The American Toolbox Roll Cover, also known around the web as the American Work Cover is one of the most rugged combinations since Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. Truck Covers USA brings us the style of their American Tonneau Cover and the versatility and storage capability of a tool box. Extremely multifunctional and engineered to work with you and truck. With that in mind, it is custom designed to fit just about any make and model of truck on the road today.

Made from heavy-duty galvonaized sheet metal, the tool box is durable and sports rust and corrosion preventative properties. It's ready for all kinds of weather and is made to protect your tools, your sports gear, your tie downs and more. It also has an optiional Built-in American Cargo Light Strip/Shield. A built in angled shield houses our 3 foot American Cargo LED Light strip to light up your toolbox. The light-by-wire strip comes fully installed behind its powder coated shield. Its unique battery system and switch are available for easy access.

A step above the industry standard, the Toolbox Roll Cover is made from double walled aluminum, making them strong enough to handle additional weight on the top if needed. Yet the product itself is lightweight and easy to retract when you want to access your cargo. Powdered coated and textured to a rich black, you not only get protection at a premium, but style as well. The canister is made from galvanized sheet metal and is the strongest out there. The sides of the canister AND the mounting brackets are all a one-piece construction unit. You get stability, reduced flex and reduced installation time!

Speaking of installation, Truck Covers USA has created its own custom clamp to facilitate attaching your new hard retracting truck bed cover. Not pleased with what was currently on the market, they decided to design and implement their own clamps. Now they can offer their own custom warranty.

After installation you'll notice when you close and open your lid you can lock it open and closed every 12 inches. You'll also see how low the profile of this is. This allows for easy maintenance by simply washing like the rest of your pickup. No bulky tonneau cover sticking out on your truck bed!

Truck Covers USA gives you the promise that their product is 100% weatherproof and water resistant. They can do this because of the their extra wide side rail seals and the 4-way drainage system. It increases the weather seal in between the cover and your pickup bed. In addition The American Toolbox has OEM grade locking mechanisms which are e-treated for more wear resistance. This lock provides override if outside paddle should be locked. And the molded rubber gasket for flange of housing provides resistance to water and dust infiltration.

New for the American Toolbox Roll Cover is the Keyless Entry option. It provides very convenient access to your load. Remember, this is an add-on option and not standard equipment – so be sure to ask for it. Our Keyless Entry release handle enables you to open your cover simply by releasing your tailgate and pulling on the custom-made molded plastic handle. Frequently Asked Questions

How does the American Work Cover (AWC) work?
The AWC slides along rails mounted to the sides of the truck bed into a canister at the front of the truck bed. The AWC rolls up into a small canister built into the tool box which measures 8" X 8", the smallest in the industry which takes up the minimum amount of space, maximizing bed usage.

What is the AWC made of?
The AWC is made of double section aluminum – the only retractable cover in the industry which uses double section aluminum and therefore makes it the toughest roll cover on the market today. The aluminum is powder coated with a textured finish making it more scratch resistant and gives it a high quality finish to match the rest of our cover.

Is the AWC waterproof?
The AWC when properly fitted is extremely water resistant, but after heavy rain a small amount of water may seep through into the truck bed. As part of the installation, four drain hoses are fitted to channel water away from the cover and are very effective but we cannot guarantee that the AWC is completely waterproof. Water may intrude into the bed via components that are not part of the American Work Cover such as the tailgate, stake pockets, etc.

Ease of Installation?
Our cover is custom made for each different model truck so no cutting is necessary. The American Work Cover is available as a ‘clamp-on’ kit that requires little technical expertise to fit. Some drilling is required to fit the drain hoses and the fitting instructions MUST be read carefully and completely prior to attempting installation. Professional installers should take 1 hour or less and first time installers should allow 2 hrs.

Locking positions?
The AWC locks into the side rails so you can open and close your tailgate without having to open the cover each time. If you do not have a tailgate lock there are various after market locks available which are inexpensive. We have a superior quality lock which locks every 12 inches. The lock is protected from all weather conditions by an elegant lock guard which further protects the lock from freezing up in the winter months.

Will the AWC improve My gas mileage?
Your gas mileage should improve between 7% and 10% on the highway, with the cover closed on the bed (except when towing).

Will the cover work with my bed liner?
The rails on our cover are designed to fasten directly onto the truck bed rail. If you have a plastic drop in bed liner there are certain minor changes that will have to be made in order for you to get a custom fit with our cover. Under-the-rail bed liners will need less modifications than the over the rail plastic liner. Please call our Technical Support Reps for information regarding fitting details with your bed liner.

Can I drive my vehicle with the American Work Cover open?
Yes, but you must make sure that the retraction strap is securely anchored to prevent it flapping around and causing damage to your truck.

How strong is the American Work Cover?
In the closed position, the cover can support a load of up to 500lbs although we recommend against carrying external loads on the cover.

Maintenance?
Low Maintenance -Wash with water and keep clean. No lubricants or waxes needed.

Truck Covers USA Work Tonneau Cover was purchased for my 2011 F-150 to make storing of work items in the bed of my truck a little more secure and hopefully a lot dryer. The product has been installed for 4 months now at the time of this review. Like anything new installed on your pride and joy there was some fine tuning that needed to be done to get things lined up with manufactures installation instructions along with my expectations. As for the install itself this is something that can be done at home. Instructions say it is recommended that two people install it I did it by myself but it was not easy. To highlight the product itself the tool box itself was a little smaller than expected but was still able to fit most of what I needed in there. The tool box lid itself is very secure along with being easy to lock and unlock as well as the opening to gain access was very well designed. Along with the hard bed cover itself has performed very well at not only keeping things dry but also keeping things in the bed of my truck. I am not sure of the numbers right now but from all indications it looks like gas mileage has improved. Overall a little pricey but a product that will do what it says it going to do plus add that personal touch to something that you take pride in.
