Q: What is High Impact ABS polymer?
A: ABS Polymers are made up of acrylonitrile, butadiene, and styrene. ABS plastics are highly versatile products that possess superior strength and performance with an economical cost. This high impact ABS is combined with ASA to prevent UV rays from chemically breaking down ABS plastic in harsh weather conditions providing a strong, durable product that will last for years on your vehicle. Q: Is my Armor Lid paintable?
A: Yes. Armor Lid can be painted giving your truck that “custom” look. However, we do not offer painted covers because of the special UV inhibitors that exist in the ASA compound covering the lid. Painting over this special compound will make it difficult for paint to last for extended periods of time in harsh weather conditions. Painting your Armor Lid is an option for you but by doing so you give up the durability to walk on or work around this surface without scratching it. The choice is yours!
Q: What colors do Armor Lid come in?
A: Armor Lid only comes in our scratch resistant black finish.
Q: Is the surface of Armor Lid smooth or textured?
A: We offer a rugged texture to resist scratches from normal wear and tear. It is our goal that our product lasts and looks good for years on your vehicle.
Q: Can I lock personal items in the bed of my truck with Armor Lid?
A: Yes. This is what its primary design was meant to be used for. Armor Lid has two locking mechanisms that secure it in place providing you with a weather-tite “trunk” space for your truck.
Q: Can I stand on it?
A: Yes. Our thick, durable design will allow you to stand on it, however, we do not recommend standing or jumping on any tonneau cover for fear of slipping and falling which may result in personal injury.
Q: Do you have a universal application to fit any truck?
A: No. Each Armor Lid is specifically designed to exactly match your truck bed. It contours around your truck bed wrapping over the tail gate and bed rail providing a weather-tite, secure fit!
Q: Will the Armor Lid Tonneau Cover rub the paint on my truck?
A: Armor Lid has been designed to fit closely to the body lines of your vehicle. If properly installed square on the truck bed, it is unlikely that rubbing will occur. If this is a major concern then we recommend that an aftermarket tailgate protector and bed rail caps are installed. Many experienced truck owners install these items and is the preferred method of installation with authorized dealers of Armor Lid.

Real easy to install. Took two people about 20 minutes. The only problems were the front hinge split rings. Not realy the best way to secure front hinge. The other dificulty was that instructions did not indicate that factory tie-down could be re-installed prior to locating lift rods (gas pistons), had to remove and re-install lift rods. Other than that, I amvery pleased with my tonneau cover.

I originally received the wrong size cover ; so that was a head ache having to wait another week for the right cover. But once the correct cover arrived it was easy to install and fits/looks great ! I recommend the cover to anyone. The employees at realtruck.com are friendly/helpful but the delivery company they use needs improvement .

The Armor Lid seems absolutely bullet-proof and installation took about 30 minutes (as advertised). The hydraulics and locking mechanisms also seem to be very sturdy. A couple very minor complaints- 1) this is a one-piece cover and is attached at the front bulkhead via a very rudimentary hinge. This hinge, while perfectly functional, is not secure to potential intruders- i.e. the hinge may be disconnected by simply removing an O-ring. Diasbling this hinge would allow an intruder to lift the front end of the cover and access the contents. I think I would have still made the purchase, but would have preferred to know this in advance. 2) The cover has a small battery-powered light under the rear of the cover. I installed the 3 AA batteries, tested the light, and the batteries instantly overheated. Not sure if this implies a minor short in the circuitry. Again, very minor defect- I didn't really anticpate using this light often anyway. Overall- very satisfied with the product. Far superior to the soft vinyl cover I had in place before.
