I recently purchased this toneau cover for my 2013 Silverado . I would highly reccomend this cover. The only problem that I encountered was pour instructions , other than that this product is a snap to put together . I have also shown this cover to several friends and hands down they all like mine the best ! I will buy this cover for my next truck as well. Great value for the money spent...
I have installed a set of trac arc racks purchased from Real Truck on my 2013 Toyota Tundra. Since I wanted to get a tonneau cover I called Real Truck and asked what would be compatible with the racks. I was told that they would work. I asked the person to contact Bak to be sure. He said it was OK. When I tried to install the cover I found that they both used the factory installed channels for attachment. My effort to fit them was unsuccessful. Since they said it would work, I measured and cut 4 small pieces of aluminum from each rail to go around the mounts for the racks. That did not work due to the extra height. I called Real Truck and told them what happened and that i had made small cuts in the rails. They said I could not return them since I had cut them and had I talked with them they would have told me it wouldn't work. I called Bak to see if they would accept the other components and issue a partial credit. The person said that since I did not order from them no credit would be issued. I called Real Truck and asked if they could provide a partial credit. The woman who took my call assured me that she would try to get some relief for me. I have not heard back from them for a month. If you want to get compatible items from Real Truck. contact both providers and get the right information . You may be better off to deal with them directly and take Real Truck out of thee loop.
This cover is very nice looking and I believe it will last. Easy installation but did need to be shimmed for proper seal. Does leak a little bit but this is manageable for me.
It took about 20 minutes to instal and looks great with the flat profile. I like the added security versus strictly vinyl top and the roll up is super easy.
On the other side of the equation, there is water that drips in at the rear of the bed during rain, and there is a 1/8" gap between the weather strip on the bulkhead and the Roll-X. That is note quite the seal I was expecting.
I would still buy it again as it is better than the alternatives, but there is room for improvement.
So far, the product meets expectations. The product was goes along with some of the other install comments. Once you figure out how much and how many shims to put on the sides, it then becomes an easy install. Since it tends to rain a lot in Washington, the cover has held up pretty good to expectations. Some rain gets in at the corners but that is manageable. The tailgate does need to be closed prior to securing the cover so the weather stripping is engaged.
Easy to install, works with back window guard
Fairly easy to install once I got a couple spring clamps on it. Only complaint is I am getting a little water leakage where the cover meets the back of the bed. Other than that it works as advertised. I have been pleased with it.
I wanted a hard cover and I wanted one that would roll up, not block my back window and take up no bed space where I had my aux fuel tank. This cover does exactly what I needed for a great price. Can be installed by yourself but having a friend around makes things much easier.
nice and safe, keep my tools safe and dry!
After researching covers, the description and reviews I read on this one made it sound like something special. In short: meh, nothing "special".
It was packaged well and was received in good condition but isn't that something you should expect these days when so much is ordered on line? Designing the package to withstand the shipping process is as important as the quality of the product itself.
The installation instructions were legible and the product is designed to simplify the installation process EXCEPT, the design of their "Genius Security" system for locking down the sides of the top to the rails is such that there is very little tolerance for variance in bed width. There is plenty of tolerance to prevent the top from flopping into the bed and the latches on the tailgate end have plenty of "throw" to hold the top down but the extrusion that rolls over the top's side edges as the top depresses a lever on the end and helps hold the top's edges tight to the rails is so small that fine tuning of the width between side rails is necessary to make this function well. As a result, I had to go to the local home improvement store and purchase a couple 1/8" thick aluminum bars to shim the side tracks out. This complicated the install significantly. Yes, I gave them the correct information on my truck when I ordered it and no, there isn't anything special about my brand new truck such as a warped or damaged bed. The problem is the design would not accommodate the typical manufacture variances in such dimensions I have witnessed in all types of vehicles. While this side lock down feature probably isn't a critical function and may not even be noticed by the average installer/owner, it is something the manufacturer went to great lengths to design, incorporate into the product and advertise so they must feel it has some importance.
So, then enters the actual function of the Cover in use. The way the "slats" that make up the top are connected to each other allows some movement from side to side. Add to that there is only one bolt on each side connecting the cover to the side rails, you now have to occasionally yank on the cover one way or the other when rolling it back down to get it aligned in the side rails properly. Not the end of the world if you don't open it frequently but would get aggravating if you did.
In summary the Cover is "Okay" but probably something I wouldn't spend that kind of money on again
