Model: HD. Application: Ford 2010 Platinum with Ford bedliner. Excellent quality materials. Came in excellent condition, timely shipping/delivery-no shipping damage. Installation was straightforward but took several hours since I removed and modified the ford bedliner for a better cover fit. The front of the truck bed is not a uniform height since the Ford side caps and bedliner are not the same height. Creates a seal issue. The Tailgate plastic cap doesn't touch the tailgate seal. I added weatherstripping to both-it helps a lot. Wish the cut metal channels holding the release cable were smoother. I smoothed them myself and added padding. Added a pad for folding forward against the back of the cab.
Overall excellent appearance and function. Would like to have one more clamp per side, pad for folding over, smoother metal adjacent to cables and recommended seals for the front and tailgate.

We are very happy with our BakFlip cover. We had to cut out six holes in our pre-installed Toyota bedliner to mount the rails. We did this by using a drill at the four corners of each hole then "connecting" them with a dremel cutting tool. Every other part of the installation was very easy. Instructions were great.
I like the way it flips out of the way to allow filling the truck bed - for instance, with stacked bales of hay. I also like the way it doesn't need an extra key to lock up securely - it just snaps down into place when the tailgate has been shut.
I found that the cables you pull down to unlock each section tended to ride up inside their channel, making them hard to pry out. So I took little velcro ties and looped them around each exposed section of cable - now I just hook a finger in the loop to pull on the cable.
We haven't seen how it fares in rain yet, but it looks like it won't leak much, if any. We're very pleased with our choice.

My first thing they could have done better with is... some of the rubber seals (on the top of the flipback) looked like they wore down to do shipping, or how it was boxed. It's very hard to tell or see but you know... you expect to be perfect so you can mess it up :)
last item.. the pipes... all i did was go to HD and buy some piping and couple of items with the piping... a T and a reducer... piping was a SNAP after that i have the right coming all the way over to the left side of the truck and into a T and then reducing down to 1/2 for the 1500 and pipe goes thru the bed... and then all piping is strapped tided to the cargo rail... works perfectly... the tubing they provided would not work... made my own for under 30 bucks...

I am very pleased with the fit and finish of the cover. My only complaint is that the paint could be a little tougher. Mine was scratched to bare metal within 3 days of install, following what I would consider normal use. Aside from the minor scratch, I think this is a great product.

The BakFlip G2 HD is great product; was shipped to Canada fast and in top shape. You're online ordering was easy and fast. I installed the tonneau cover with no problems and as mentioned there were no factory or shipping defects. I also ordered the Bull Ring Stake Pocket tie downs. They arrived in Canada 4 days after the online order was placed, faster than ordering from a Canadian company. They also work great and were easy to install. For both products I only needed 1 ratchet and 1 screw driver.

I am very pleased with the G2 HD cover. Great product, very strong, good fit and finish, clean appearance.
Delivery was within two days. The price is higher than I expected, but it is all hand made in USA.
One big problem slowed down the installation for me. I have a 2005 F150 with a Ford plastic Bedliner. The rails are NOT compatible with a hard plastic Ford bedliner. I had to cut four by two inch sections out of the front corners of my bedliner- a very difficult project. I also had to cut two notches in the tailgate bedliner, but those are not noticeable unless you look closely. The front corners of the bedliner are now hacked open and will look very ugly if I ever remove the Tonneau Cover for heavy duty hauling of large objects. When the cover is closed, there is no visible sign of the cut liner from outside the truck.
The instructions provide no hint to the installer that this must be done, so unless a customer calls for assistance, there is no way to predict what kind of disaster might happen to the truck bed, the rails, or the bed liner if the person tries to rush the project.
The drain pipe fittings are also well inside the bed, so there is NO WAY to just plug in the clear tubes and route them behind the liner. I will need to find a set of double elbow fittings for each rail so the water can drain behind the liner. The fittings to do this should be made available to customers for free.
I can provide photos if it would help other customers decide if this project is something they want to tackle.
When I called Bak for technical assistance, they were very helpful and quickly answered all my questions with good advice. Great customer service.

It seals really well to the truck bed. It came with two thick strips of plastic and a sheet of paper that said to install them on the inside of my bed rails. I called in and verified they were supposed to go on the inside and not the top. When I put them in, the fit was too tight and I couldn't get the bakflip closed without poking and prodding to get the rubber seals on the sides of the bakflip in. I assumed maybe the two plastic pieces were there to keep the bakflip rails from scratching the truck bed??? I tossed them and put some think plastic I had from a shower pan install between the bakflip rails and the truck bed. It fits great now. Just went on a week long vacation and it worked beautifully to pack stuff and keep it dry. I also went to the hardware store and got 4 90 degree hose barb fittings to route the drain hoses out of my truck. The holes in the side of my truck bed are really high and the hose would kink without the two 90 degree hose barb fittings on each hose. The packaging is poor in my opinion also. They need to put it in a bit more styrofoam or something. It's a heavy, bulky item and it going to get dropped once or twice in shipment. Mine had a dent across two of the panels where the whole thing was clearly dropped onto a curb corner or something. You can only see the dents when the top is open though since the dent is on the edge and I didn't care. Shippers need to be careful but the product manufacturers have to be realistic too. There isn't enough cushion in this products shipping. I love it though. Would recommend it.

Am very satisfied once BakFlip sent the correct one. They screwed up the order twice, first not sending the rails, then they had the wrong cover in the box. It took 2 weeks to resolve the matter. The people at REALTRUCK were VERY helpful in resolving the matter. Will be doing business with them again.

Not exactly what I thought I was getting. Once installed it seems to work ok but the instructions are very poorly written, and the construction is only adequate. Not what I would expect for a $1000 cover. But, what am I going to do, sent this huge thing back? No, once you've fought this thing into place and get it set up correctly you're going to keep it and use it. In my opinion the price should be about half of what it is.

Very Sturdy design. Not 100% waterproof, but very little moisture gets in. Easy to install, a little more difficult with a bedrug and having to relocate the deck rails on a Tundra, but looks very nice once its done. My gas mileage has actually increased a bit, and the truck rides a little quieter on the highway. Would definately recommend, wish it came with a cargo light in the kit and had two water drains located at the rear of the truck rails in addition to the two fronts.

Installed easily, looks great and seems pretty sturdy. Does good job of keeping water out. Like fact that it is removable with 2 hand screws if I need 100% of bed space (except for the rails) ie when I haul ATV etc. Pretty heavy. Hard to tell if this was worth extra $$ over normal G2 as I've never seen one of them but I like this one. Wire pull straps could be better engineered or of higher quality (just me but seems like a cheap solution for the locking mechanism).

I am very happy with this purchase. The product was as described and is of excellent quality. I have had this for about a month now and we have had LOTS of rain. So much rain in fact, that my waterproofed basement even got wet... but not the bed of my truck. Even with all the rain, it has stayed bone dry! It even works with my bed extender. I would definately recommend this product to anyone that asked. I give it 5 stars!

My BackFlip arrived today. The box was beaten up from the cross country trip, but this thing was packed incredibly well. There was not one scratch on it. It was easy enough to install on my 2005 Nissan Titan. It looks good and appears that it will be as secure as I expected. The only disappointing thing was the rods which hold it in the upright position were installed too close to the end of the rail, which prevented me from using them to hold it open. When I called support, they apologized and told me I would have to move them myself. It was not hard to move them, but now I have an extra screw hole in the rail (no big deal). At least the customer service guy was nice and gave me the answer quickly. He also gave me details about the self tapping screw, which I didn't need, but was still nice. Also, I didn't like the location of the drain plugs in my TITAN so I had to drill new ones in the side of the bed. Total time including install and drilling the new holes was about an hour. I didn't water test it, but I don't see how it could ever leak under normal conditions...unless I park it facing downhill and rain runs in beside the tailgate (not related to the top). The top is very well sealed, so I'm sure it will be fine. I can see how it would leak if you don't install it correctly. I can't think of anything I would do to improve this product. I would give it a 4.5 due to having to move the screws, but that rating doesn't exist. So I'll give it a 5. It's a good product.

It was much heavier than I expected. It did open all the way and protect the back of the cab, which is great. It leaked so much in the rain, however, that I returned it and exchanged it for a Roll-n-lock, which was a bear to install because of all the cuts that had to be made to the drop-in bed liner. That leaks too, but not as bad. if you don't need the security of aluminum, got with an Access cover. Those never leaked on me.

I recently purchased the BakFlip HD for my Ridgeline and I am very happy with it. The online purchase went smoothly, including applying discounts that were available. The product arrived in just a few days time and was in perfect condition due to being well packaged. Installation was a breeze and I'm very impressed with the quality, design, fit and finish of the HD model. The only reason I haven't given it a full five stars is because I feel that these (bed cover) products in general cost more than they should. It's not that complicated of a product and it seems like they should be offered for less. But of course, that's just my opinion and I might be off base on that. Overall, I'm still very satisfied and if I had the option of rating 4-1/2, I would.

took maybe 30mins to install. the rubber seal around the cover didn't fit tight at first but after it sat in the sun for a while it formed down flush with the bed. looks good and easy to use.

Love it! The only issue I had was with the drain tubes. They would not make the bend needed in my 2008 GMC Sierra Denali. I bought two elbow connectors at the hardware store and cut the tubes to use the elbows and make the turn. All is good now!

This cover is what I was looking for. A hard cover that has the option of hauling something large without having to remove the cover. It also is almost level with the top of the bed.
Installation was quick and easy. My truck has a bed rail system. The kit to lower the bed rail is a little hoaky but it works. If you install it as per the instructions the tie downs are not able to slide. I reversed the fastners to the rail so they could slide.
The only thing that I don't like is that you can't close the tail gate without opening the cover. You can't open the cover without opening the tailgate. This is normal with almost all covers so that you can secure your stuff.

I installed on a 2008 Ram and I've got to say this is an outstanding product. Installation is straight forward and the on-line video helps. It really dresses up the truck and provides a secure storage area (once you get a tailgate lock). There were a couple of long spacers that came with it that I wasn't sure about, but a quick call to the company explained it all. I had considered several covers before buying the BakFlip HD and was a little turned off on others (roll-up hard covers in particular) by all of the negative comments in regards to ease of installation. This was about a 20 minute install and another 10 minutes of getting it adjusted perfect.

I installed this BakFlip G2 HD a week ago. About an hour for installation, but, I was in no rush. The installation was fairly straightforward. However, the manual does not mention replacing the front bolt of the front upper Tie-downs, after removing the cleats. The rails only require one bolt here, so why not replace the bolt you had to remove.
Also, the bolts that come with the tonneau are plated; some sort of Zinc (?) plating. Why not Stainless Steel? I'm going to replace mine with S/S ones. Probably cost about $4. Put on some 'Anti-Seize' and you're good for life. There was also no mention (or pictures) of the self-tapping screws (plastic bag included with 4 black self-tapping upholstery screws).
I found out from BakFlip's web site, that they (the screws (2)) are used at the tailgate end of the rails. I drilled 1/8" pilot holes, and found I was only drilling the composite liner, not the steel box.
After a trip back home from the cottage (about 2 hours) in a light rain, I opened the tailgate to find a lot of water leakage. Coming from a hard tonneau on a ’04 Tacoma that never leaked for the four years I had it,
this was somewhat disappointing. I checked the adjustment, and everything seems to line up, at the front and back.
So, the nature of the beast?? It will be interesting to see what happens this winter up here in the Great White North, at minus thirty Celsius
(in Fahrenheit, that’s just plain cold).
A Suggestion
When folding or unfolding the cover, don’t wear a belt with a buckle or jacket with a large zipper. You can easily scratch the side of the truck. I’m 5’11” and, being very careful, I can just fold it, (or unfold it), without scraping the fender.
So, that’s my rant.
Overall, I’d give this tonneau about 8.0 to 8.5 out of 10.

Perfect fit and trivial to install. Took all of 30 minutes to get everything installed. A good chunk of that was installing the drain tubes because I decided that I didn't want to drill into the truck bed and I didn't want to leave the plugs to the bed wide open. So, I pulled the plugs and drilled a hole slightly smaller than the drain tubes and then forced the rubber tubes through the holes. It rained all weekend and the truck bed stayed perfectly dry.
