  • Happy President’s Day America

Posted on February 21st, 2011 The Herrick

Happy President's DayPresident’s Day originated in 1880 and was celebrated on George Washington’s Birthday.  It was first implemented by an Act of Congress for government offices in the District of Columbia, which later expanded to include all federal offices.  President’s Day is the first federal holiday that celebrated an American citizen.  January 1st, 1971, the holiday was changed from George Washington’s Birthday to the 3rd Monday in February.

Here at RealTruck.com we wanted to show our appreciation for the great leaders (past & present) that this nation has seen.  The RealTruck team is very grateful for the job they’ve done by keeping our country free, which allowed for all of our successes.  So without further ado we would like to say HAPPY PRESIDENTS DAY AMERICA!

  • Newest Member Of The RealTruck Team – Debi Reberg

Posted on February 9th, 2011 The Herrick

Debi RebergRealTruck.com is proudly announcing the arrival of our newest Customer Loyalty Specialist Debi Reberg.  We are very fortunate to have her as our newest member of the RealTruck team.  Debi enjoys getting to know and working with people.  She also speaks Spanish and has already taken a few Spanish phone calls here at RealTruck.

A Little bit of Debi in her own words:
Born and raised in sunny Sacramento California with a huge extended family.  My favorite times there are spent with family at various ocean-side places like Mendocino, Monterey, San Francisco, and Bodega Bay.  My younger days were spent hanging out by the pool, going to Land Park, the zoo, and Funderland, all in Sacramento.

I moved to North Dakota 19 years ago, chasing the “Little House on the Prairie” dream.  I wanted a simpler life with less rat race and more relaxation.  I have found that Jamestown is about right for the size of city I want to be in, and the location (halfway between Bismarck and Fargo) is pretty ideal.  I also like the “smaller town” environment here.  It has been a really good place to raise my kids.  I am married, with 3 kids (Amanda -23, Andrew -17, and Jacob-7) and two dogs named Charlie and Daisy.

My first real paying job besides babysitting was at McDonald’s.  From there I learned the motto “If there is time to lean, there is time to clean” and that was somewhat ingrained in my psyche, so I hate being bored.  In fact, I’m never really bored because I try to find something to do most of the time.  From McDonalds, I went to work for the State of California in various departments, doing many different jobs, including working with the office that was responsible for aerial spraying of pesticide to eradicate a fruit fly (literally “overkill”) a very dangerous office to work in at the time, complete with death threats and bomb scares!!  Since moving to North Dakota, I have had a number of jobs including owning and operating a daycare/preschool, selling flooring, working at the American Heart Association, working in medical billing, and finally now to RealTruck.com as a Customer Loyalty Specialist.  In all of my previous positions, I really enjoyed working with people the most.  RealTruck’s philosophy of delivering more and their focus on customer service is especially appealing, and I have learned that RealTruck really lives what they speak.

I have a huge interest in the paranormal, stemming from a personal experience when I was 15.  This is a passion of mine, and I like to conduct ghost hunts and travel to different spooky locations to see what I can see.  Someday, I want to stay at the Stanley Hotel in Colorado (the source for Stephen King’s book/movie “The Shining”) and I love watching all the ghost hunting shows.  I have gathered really interesting “evidence” including pictures, voice-activated recordings, digital recordings, personal experiences, etc.  I also am a huge fan of standup comedy – my favorites being Gabriel Iglesias, Mitch Hedberg, Jerry Seinfeld, and Jim Gaffigan,   I also love to play practical jokes on people, and feel that laughter really is the best medicine.

  • Bully Dog is looking for Beta Testers

Posted on February 8th, 2011 Kay Why Dee

Bully Dog, a world leading manufacturer of performance products including chips, programmers, intakes and exhausts; is actively looking for owners of 2011 GM Kodiaks, Topkicks and Vans with the new 6.6L Duramax LML for beta testing.

Like any cutting edge company, they are constantly developing new products and adding new vehicle applications to existing products.  It works well in the lab, but real results come from the road.   Bully Dog asks for your help and in return, you can benefit.   During beta testing, you can get a sweet discount on products as you provide opinions.

If you have one of the aforementioned vehicles and you are interested in beta testing, you can sign up here.  In exchange for participating in our beta test, Bully Dog will give you a significant discount on a GT Diesel.

  • Real Gifts for Real Women this Valentine’s Day

Posted on February 7th, 2011 Kay Why Dee

Want the boring truth about Valentine’s Day?  Gifts like run of the mill flowers are getting pretty tired and busted.  The industrious RealTruck staff has created a list of some interesting ideas to give real men (and creative ladies) points on the relationship score card.  Don’t even try to pretend you aren’t keeping score.

    Homemade Coupon Book

This is a great idea because it shows how much you pay attention to what your significant other really needs from life… a break.  Things like a free massage, a night off from watching the kids, a frisky favor, etc.  The key to creating a coupon book is to make it all about the person you give it to.  They can then turn in coupons whenever they feel like using them throughout the year.  You’re on the hook and totally obligated to fulfill these needs.  Make it count!

An Autograph from a Favorite Star

Is she totally into that guy on Law and Order?  Does she listen to too much Aerosmith?  Maybe it’s time to give into her secret desires by owning a piece of the thing she covets from afar.  EBay.com and The Autograph Store are superb places to start looking.  Keep your eye out for fakes and do your research on the seller’s legitimacy before making your final purchase.

    Gift Certificate to the Spa

Now, admittedly, this is a gimme.  Who wouldn’t enjoy a day at the spa?  Massage, facial, manis, pedis, the works!  Just make sure she knows you’re purchasing it for enjoyment, not the torturous devices known as laser hair removal or waxing.  Yeesh!

    A Home Cooked Meal

Sometimes the simplest gestures are the ones that make the biggest impact.  If your relationship is new or old, sitting down to a well planned out Valentine’s Day dinner cooked by your spouse can be a heartwarming experience.  Especially when it’s in your honor!  Following it up with a fantastic homemade dessert (we suggest eating this while snuggled together in bed) you’re sure to chalk one up on the board!

    Books for the Newly Dating

For those who are newly dating, we suggest going the humorous route.  There are plenty of ways to show you care while saying you have a funny bone as well.  Keep it light by getting them a book.

Things we recommend you shouldn’t buy:

    • Exercise equipment or workout videos
    • Membership to the gym
    • Pink household power tools
    • Lingerie or any clothing for that matter
    • Season tickets to sporting events

What’s the worst thing you received for Valentine’s Day?  The best?  We’d love to have you add it to the list.  Add your comments below!
