I hope this guy’s neighbors don’t mind what he’s about to do.
Alright, time for an honest self assessment. If you’re out in your freshly painted 1987 short bed Chevy about to lay some tire on asphalt for no apparent reason, does one really have much regard for neighbors?
I’m going to make an assumption that this guy’s awesomeness brings the neighbors over for these stunts. He probably has his own fan club.
This is very reminiscent of some “Trailer Park Boys” stunts.
Is anyone really working today? Fridays are notoriously terrible when it comes to production. Now, before you click on this link I’d like you to know that RealTruck doesn’t want to encourage this type of lackadaisical behavior. We are merely pointing out an interesting game we found.
How many vehicle company logos can you correctly name? How fast is your time? Are there some retired or are they all still in action? Come back here and let us know how well you did.
I almost feel silly for writing about another recall, but Toyota has announced they are recalling almost 51,000 Tundra trucks due to an issue with the rear drive shaft. The issue resulted in faulty casting at a foundry. Recall notifications will be mailed in May.
“This type of failure has been confirmed in one owner’s vehicle, but no injuries or accidents have been associated with the condition, Toyota says.”
This issue only involves the 2011 model year.
If you feel you can’t wait for your letter, visit Toyota’s Recall Website for more information.
It took some doing, but Kari Lepp (Accounting Assistant) finally admitted to us that it was her birthday today. She even let me know how old she was, but I better not tell you that!
I asked Kari, “What are you doing today to celebrate?”
Kari said, “I am going to lunch with the President of RealTruck.com!”
I sneaked into the accounting office (where Kari works) and asked her closest co-worker Mary (Accounting Assistant), “Can you give an example of Kari Delivering More?”
Mary said, “This is going to be tough! There are so many examples of Kari living out our Core Values. But If I had to choose one it would have to be today. Kari asked me to go out to lunch with her and the President of RealTruck.”
Wow! Kari that is Delivering More at its finest!
Please help us celebrate Kari’s special day!
Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you……
Kari Receiving Her Lunch With The President Certificate
Chevy’s Heavy Duty pickup truck comparison website is pretty involved. I’d say it would be almost perfect if it weren’t for the load time. I’m sitting on a pretty nice internet connection, but I think about the little guy on the other end with DSL or even *gasp* shared bandwidth or worse. I don’t want to think about what’s worse than that. (Are people still on dial up? The answer, sadly, is yes.)
Chevy’s video of head to head AMCI certified testing against the 2011 Ford Super Duty and 2011 2500 Ram HD shows everyone’s favorite football talking head, Howie Long saying ‘wow’ a lot. I’m a Chevy enthusiast (they did have the Motor Trend Truck of the Year) and I’ll admit, I’m was ready to be wowed. (The opinions of Kay Why Dee are not necessarily those of RealTruck and it’s entire staff. Believe me, we have a lot of Ford and Toyota boys workin’ here too!)

My favorite video was the frame rigidity / frame strength test. This particular test was run 12 times by AMCI. With 3000 lbs of payload, they took the trucks up a simulated twist ditch. Something I actually encounter on sort of a frequent basis. What? You think I type all day?! They also ran a misalignment test, which wasn’t as sexy, but was pretty showy.

Whether or not you’re a Chevy fan or not, these were pretty interesting for any pickup truck lover to watch. If you are shopping for a 2011 HD truck you should watch these for research. Yeah… research.
A flaw causing steering columns to rust and increase the probability for them to break and cause a crash while the vehicle is in motion, Nissan is recalling 195,000 Pathfinder SUVs in 20 states. The recall is limited to cold weather states because the problem seems centralized to states that use large amounts of salt for keeping roads clear in the winter.
From The Detroit News.com
“… the recall of 162,658 1996-2004 Pathfinder and 33,333 1997-2003 Infiniti QX4 vehicles includes those sold or currently registered in 20 states that use heavy amounts of road salt could face steering problems because of corrosion issues.”
The recall was ultimately prompted by a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigation started in January of this year. Recall notices will be sent out on May 16th, but if you feel you have immediate concerns with your vehicle, Nissan recommends seeing a dealership before receiving the recall slip.

This tire fire presentation is less of a burnout and more of a peel out.
That being said, there is something sinister in this dude’s laugh. It makes the whole experience… odd.
Enjoy. And lock your doors tonight. If you hear this baby rumbling down the road followed by that sinister laugh, you’d better hope he just plans to lay some rubber on your street.
SUVs earn top honors for safety, but lag behing when it comes to fuel conservation.
The Wall Street Journal put out a long and involved article detailing what those of us who own SUVs and CUVs have all come to realize. They like to sip the gas. Sipping may not be the correct word in this time of soaring gas prices, GUZZLING may be a more appropriate approach when describing the MPG your average SUV gets in town (or even on the highway for that matter).
While the SUV doesn’t make top scores when it comes to conservation of fossil fuels, its weight does make it a top contender for safety awards.
“Now, new studies of federal crash data show they’re among the safest vehicles on the road—thanks to more than a decade of effort by auto makers and safety regulators to attack the root causes of deadly SUV rollover accidents.”
Manufacturers were pretty tired of them being too tippy! But now with new regulations set forth by the EP and the Obama administration for higher fuel economy to be met by 2016 and 62 MPG being a target by 2025, SUV makers are worried.
Hybrid sales are starting to rise, but can they meet the demand and live up to the overall market expectations?
One way you can combat the number of trips you take to the pump is by educating yourself on ways to save. RealTruck has created a handy Gas Saving Products Research Guide listing different products to help your vehicle perform at optimum levels to ensure the best MPG at all times.
