TruXedo, makers of truck bed covers, introduced the Original TruXedo Tonneau Cover back in 2000. Since then, they’ve been growing and reshaping themselves to fit the needs of the industry and more importantly… their customer.
With the economy changing and affecting the automotive market so deeply, they had to roll with the punches, “As with many companies in the automotive aftermarket, over the last few years TruXedo has had to find ways to grow in a weak economy.” says Joel Mohlenhoff, the National Sales Manager, “TruXedo has been able to develop new products and has continued to improve current products. By doing this, we have been able to offer customers the high quality products they are looking for.”
Joel was happy to answer more questions about his company and the truck accessory industry as a whole. Truck bed covers are their specialty, but they need fulfill the needs of many different types of customers.

What new products or developments does Truxedo have coming out in 2011?
TruXedo’s newest product is the TonneauMate. TonneauMate is a full-size lockable tool box that fits under a tonneau cover and is off the floor, allowing for full use of the truck bed floor for cargo such as full sheets of plywood or sheet rock. The design of the TonneauMate is completely universal, allowing for one part number to fit most full-size trucks with or without a tonneau cover.
TruXedo has also just released a new latching system for our TruXport Tonneau Cover. This new system allows for easier opening and with our new patented pre-set tension control system, there is no need to manually adjust the cover to keep it tight.
How has Truxedo changed the aftermarket accessory industry?
TruXedo has brought several exclusive and innovative features to the tonneau cover market. From automatic tension control, featured on most of our covers, to completely new covers like the Deuce, the 1st and only soft tonneau cover that flips open from the front for quick and easy access to cargo at the front of the bed or rolls fully open to haul large cargo. TruXedo’s best selling cover, the Lo Pro QT is the #1 selling soft tonneau cover in North America.

What do you think the aftermarket industry will look like in five years?
We believe the future of the aftermarket will be stronger than ever in the upcoming years. Our industry has some of the most creative and talented people there are in any industry. Our industry has overcome many issues, but as a whole I feel we will continue to develop better, more innovative products than ever before.
What has been your most popular product recently? Has it change compared to years past?
TruXedo’s #1 product is the Lo Pro QT. This cover started as a high quality soft roll-up cover featuring automatic tension control. Over the years, we have taken the Lo Pro QT to the next level by introducing our exclusive QT system that allows the cover system to be removed in seconds with no tools, for full bed usage. With today’s short beds, this allows the extra space for hauling large items like ATV’s that need to be stored against the bed’s front bulkhead.
