Edwin Duterte of PinkSlipMixers.com wants to turn social networking from being 'me' focused to being 'we' focused.

We want to Keep it Real this week and give a shout out to Edwin Duterte for creating a new social networking concept that is something edgy, new and at first glance… kind of risky for those looking for a new job.

Pink Slip Mixers is a group created specifically for out of work professionals to mix, mingle and help each other find work.  Sounds kind of counter productive doesn’t it?  Why would someone looking for a job be interested in helping someone else find a job?  Well, it’s all about spreading the word about yourself and possibly getting someone else the right career.

From the website:

Our events are fun, interactive and FREE to job seekers! When you come in the door, you’ll be given a color-coded name tag that identifies you as a job seeker, and then indicate on your tag what industry you represent or are interested in. Recruiters, HR staff, Direct Hire company representatives will be given a color-coded name tag indicating what company they represent. That way, you can network with the people that matter to you! Join our pink slip party and let’s “Pay It Forward” to find each other a job.

Talk about putting yourself out there for the good of your fellow man (or woman)!  It’s risky to put yourself out there like this, but we think Edwin completely lives our

We see people who Keep it Real all the time, but we’d also like some nominations to come from you, our readers.  We know you see examples of people helping others with no thought of reward EVERY DAY!

To send in a nomination for a Keepin’ it Real feature, please email kyd @ realtruck.com.  Please send as much information as possible!
