Julian Maimin Demonstrates his Hard Cover Bak Tonneau
Fox News LA is running news articles about innovators in California called Saving the California Dream Series. Back in December they ran a particular story we felt close to and deeply inspired by. This is the story of how Julian Maimin of Bak Industries started his business and more importantly, what it took to get where he is today.
Maimin came to the United States illegally from South Africa. These days, he’s a legal resident and runs a multi-national company, but back in the day he was working for $4/hour. He had a dream of making beliners more cost effective through better innovation.
From the article:
“…We spent a year in our garage building a mold with a belief and a dream.”
Heidi
“One of the things I’m noticing is the people who are succeeding right now in California are the innovators.”
Julian Maimin
“Our innovation not only got us our great start, but it allows us to continue to perpetuate our great business. I think that’s what America is made of. I think that’s what America is all about. America is a place where you come here, and you can rely on your own gumption, your own innovation, your own tenacity to further your cause.
“Over the past 24 years, we never had a declining year.”
Heidi
“How has being an immigrant been an advantage here for you?”
Julian Maimin
“It’s allowed me to view the opportunities that America affords its citizens in a different way. I’m a firm believer in this great country.
“If I make a profit at the end of the year, every single person from the ground up will get a bonus. That’s how it should be. That’s how it should be.”
We carry the Bak Industries line of products because they are built well, come with an outstanding warranty and have the customer service to back the product up from delivery to installation. They’ve always gotten our seal of approval. The more we learn about their company ethics and the story of Maimin, the more we can say we’re proud to be partners in their journey!
