What would you do if a dog swam up to you while you were in the middle of the ocean fishing? One fisherman experienced just that and had to take matters into this own hands to ensure the dog was returned safely to shore!
Battered, shaking, scared and tired; the pup swam up to this kayaker while he was out trying to catch a bite to eat near Siesta Key, Florida. He had a collar, but no tag, therefore no identification. Securing the poor put to the back of his little vessel, he set forth for shore.
There he discovered the poor animal was in worse condition than he first assessed and was even limping. The fisherman was 2 miles from his vehicle, but was able to call his sister to pick the dog up. Guessing he had an identification chip, they immediately took him to a vet.
Sadly, the story does not get better here. While the dog is being cared for, it turns out the owner was killed by a hit and run drunk driver. She had been out for a walk with her pet when the accident occurred.

RealTruck extends its deepest thanks to the kayaker who took care of this little guy during his time of strife. He rowed the extra miles when it was really the darkest day any dog could experience.
