The Ford Explorer is a popular mid-size SUV. Ford introduced the Explorer in 1990 for the 1991 model year. They not only focused their marketing on the utility driver, but the everyday driver as well. Because of its style, versatility and comfort the Ford Explorer flooded the SUV industry, becoming a prime choice as a family/utility vehicle. In 2001, the Ford Explorer Sport Trac model emerged as a multipurpose crew cab pickup truck.
