Greetings again from RealTruck. Here’s a run down of our latest happenings. Since we kind of took Day 2 of the Sema Show off to tour Zappos main head quarters, we needed to make up some time on Day 3. We were able to cover the truck & suv section, performance, restyling and a little of the tires and wheels area.
 Ford Hot Wheels Truck
The Ford booth was pretty impressive. There was a lot going on, from virtual off road video games to assembling a Ford Mustang. Just about every Ford vehicle in the booth was radically customized.
A few other noteworthy stops included the Anzo booth. Anzo, a premium manufacturer of aftermarket tail lights, head lights, off road lights and various LED light products has quite the impressive booth. From radical vehicles to awesome products. All Anzo vehicle lights are DOT approved.
Along the way we stopped by the Scion booth to view the new hot rides from Scion. Wow some rockin cars. We are thinking Scion owners smile big while driving around.
 Night Raider LED Display
Hats off to the Plasmaglow crew, who had an incredible display featuring several new LED light products including the new and improved hood scoop night raider LED light kit. The new night raider scanning light kit should be available on RealTruck very soon.
Camaro on its' side in Magnaflow Booth
As for performance, the Magnaflow booth was action packed as usual. This year Magnaflow Exhaust had 2 vehicles in the booth literally on their side so you could clearly see the Magnaflow exhaust kits installed on their hot cars and trucks.
Some of the other booths we visited included Iron Cross Automotive displaying their new heavy duty grille guards and bumpers, SuperSprings and their new Sumo Springs, Pit Stop Products and their new racing seat chairs, Thule featuring a Dewalt equipped work truck and the list could go on and on.
 Ivan from Bak Industries
Lastly, as special thanks to Ivan from Bak Industries for the double guns pose for our camera’s. Ivan is one of the finest, kindest and coolest people you will find in our industry. It always great the see enthusiastic vendors like Bak. Bak announced the release of the all new Bak Flip F1 tonneau cover featuring an all new fiberglass reinforced finish creating another option in the Bak Flip series of tonneaus which currently includes the Bak Flip G2, Bak Flip HD, Bak Flip CS and now the all new F1 Bak Flip.
Please take a moment to check out some of the 2009 Sema Show Pictures. Featuring tons of vendor booths, hot rides and new products.
With all the talk of the economy not being the best, the 2009 Sema Show was a great success. Lots of new technology and product enhancements to be found at almost every exhibit. If you are looking to upgrade your car or pickup truck, stay tuned for all the hot product to be released in 2010. You are sure to find innovation, head turning style and increased function in all the accessory and performance categories. Thanks again for following the RealTruck crew as we walked the 2009 Sema Show.

Well, we never actually made it to the Sema Show today. We had a tour of Zappos which took up most of the day. We are heading over to the show this morning for day 3. The Zappos Tour was amazing and well worth checking out. We plan to get some more cool rides and products posted up at the end of the day.

Zappos.com is an online retailer that employs the motto of “wowing their customers through service”. After taking a tour of their facility, I can promise you that they also create a sense of “awe” seeing how they work first hand. Located in Henderson, Nevada, just outside of Las Vegas, the corporate offices house all of the “teams” that make Zappos go. This includes the Customer Loyalty specialist, the direct Marketing team and other essential office positions. You can’t help but realize that you are not in your normal stuffy office environment right off the bat. Upon walking in the entry way, you come face to face with Rosy, a mock up of the Jetsons housemaid robot, that will faithfully serve you several kinds of coffee. The walls are painted a rich maroon color and the staff greets you with a boisterous hello. After signing in on the wall mounted computer, you can parooz the bookshelfs with many helpful and inspirational books that help Zappos maintain the lifeblood of their company, its corporate culture (pay close attention to these books as Zappos will let you take one complementary at the end of the tour).
A big shout out to our tour guide, Jonathan Wolske (follow on Twitter), an energetic, fun and extremely knowledgeable culture guide. Jon not only answered all our questions on Zappos but was also able to provide us with up to date info on the newest cell phones and showed us quite possibly the coolest cell phone application ever. A Star Wars light saber app that allows your phone to sound just like a light saber. But I digress.
Zappos corporate culture is not just pretty words on a poster, this is a way of life for this company and it shows throughout. The first stop was the legal team which affectionately is known as the Hall of Justice. Adorned with numerous super hero references including one chilly employee who was wearing a cape, you immediately get the sense that this is an office that believes in having fun. Each office featured an awning and over the Christmas season, will be decorated to look like a storefront. This gives the appearance that you are walking down the street of small town, USA not a half of a billion dollar a year corporation. Each department has its own unique personality that shows in the décor. Whether the Heroes mockup poster for the Direct Marketing team or the Rain Forrest area in the cubes. The thing that really stood out to me was the amazing positive energy that exists. Every employee really seems like they want to be there and contributes to the overall cause. I don’t have time to detail every different conference that we saw or the stairwell that has pens places so you can write a message on the wall, but suffice to say, the Zappos tour is a very unique experience.
Aside from the unique and fun décor, the real treat of the Zappos tour is seeing first hand what it is like to have a company that walks the walk on corporate culture. Zappos has made its name on its commitment to its consumers, but the thing that may not get as much attention is its commitment to its employees. You get a real sense that this company cares about its employees and wants to help them become not just better contributors to the cause but also help them become better people. The vast amount of information that they will share is a testament to their belief in transparency. Sales figures, returns rate and other “top secret” information is freely posted throughout the office.
For me personally, this tour was an eye opening experience. It makes me want to bring back what I have learned and hopefully implement some of the many great ideas into RealTruck. On this occasion, I hope that what happened in Vegas does NOT stay in Vegas.

 Jeff and a Big Truck
The morning started with a good cup of coffee from Starbucks and then we headed to the tram station at the MGM. After about a 10 minute ride we arrived at the show. This year, our badges are our “Buyer” scan cards for the vendors, so it was nice not having to get into a line to get a scan card.
The truck area was located on the 2nd floor of the south hall. Our goal for the day was to visit with a number of our top vendors and then browse around the area. The mood of the show was pretty lively. On a side note, we got to see “Dunn” from Brooks N Dunn on his way to the Toyota booth for a little PR work with the Toyota “Brooks N Dunn” pickup.

The Sema Show for 2008 officially opened today. The amount of exhibritors seems down this year from previous years but the quality of concept vehicles and radical rides keeps getting more amazing each year. We started out in 2 RealTruck Teams (Matt & Justin / Josh & Scott) in the South Hall. We visited existing vendors and begin talks with a variety of new prospect manufacturers. Many Hot Rides, Cool Manufacture Display Booths and new aftermarket accessory products were seen. Read the rest of this entry »

Time has come and we are finally going To Sema also known as Automotive Aftermarket Industries Week. On our quest to find the greatest car and truck accessories in the world, we started out with a beautiful day in Jamestown, ND from RealTruck.Com headquarters. For the drive to Fargo, ND to catch the plane, we opted for driving the mini van, instead of driving the big bad truck. The great plains of North Dakota has many great sites, but today it’s was just a regular old ND days, except 70 degrees in ND on Oct 31st is pretty grand weather. We met up with Katie in Fargo for a late lunch at the almost world famous Space Aliens Bar & Grille.
