The New Lamborghini SUV
Not since the discovery of peanut butter and jelly… or peanut butter and chocolate for that matter… has their been a marriage of two opposites that has been so advantageous. Maybe.
Lamborghini and Porsche are joining forces to develop a 4-door SUV concept vehicle.
Why are they doing this? To annoy Ferrari of course! From the horses mouth, Stefan Winkelmann (Lamborghni’s Head Cheese) “Ferrari can’t follow into this market, because it has no links to SUVs at all. Lamborghini is entirely credible as an SUV maker, but it can’t do it alone. And as Porsche has shown it already knows how to do it, it makes sense to work together.”

Rally Concept Truck at Car and Driver.com
Chevy unveiled their new concept truck, the Rally, in Beunos Aires (Argentina) last week. Yes, Argentina. NOT the United States. However, Chevy insists it is a ‘global truck.’ Probably indicating that eventually it will be produced and distributed in all countries Chevy has a foothold. It’s an indication they may in fact do this, but they’ve only confirmed production for areas in South America and Asia.
It appears to be geared toward the off-roading crowd. It’s a crew-cab with a 2.8-liter turbodiesel 4-cylinder engine. Equipped with 4-wheel drive, it sports 18-inch aluminum wheels and 12-inch wide tires. The suspension is considered ‘high performance’ and probably ready to take on a mountain if you choose not to climb it on your own.

The 2011 Toyota Tacoma Review
So… you’re interested in the 2011 Toyota Tacoma, eh? Well, Crave seems pretty interested as well. By all appearances, they seem to be in love with the darn thing.
Crave’s Behind the Wheel edition takes the time to break down the Tacoma’s ins and outs. Sporting a 4.0 liter, 236 HP V6 engine, the latest from Toyota may seem smaller, but it has all the growl you’ve come to expect from a work truck. Well, a work truck that can also double as the family roadster.

Ford is using dandelions to make rubber products.
If dandelions were valuable, would you casually use herbicide to kill them? Would you spend hours in your garden or on your lawn trying to wipe them from existence? As it turns out, they may be very useful to a vehicle manufacturer!
Ford Motor Company has been working with Ohio State University on how to use dandelions to make a sustainable rubber product. That milky white goo that oozes from the roots of the weed when you yank it out of your flower bed? It has properties similar to those of the rubber tree and Ford is looking to capitalize on it.
Could this be considered flower power?

2011 Nissan Rogue
The Rogues seem to have a little issue with visibility. I’m not talking about being seen on the road or even looking nice in the showroom. The Nissan Rogue ranked worst out of 10 small crossovers in a comparison test two years ago when it came to blind-spot visibility. According to a recent Cars.com review of the 2011 Nissan Rogue, the issue doesn’t seem to have been resolved.

Consumer Reports Grads 2011 SUVs
The focus of testing the popular Ford Explorer, Toyota Highlander Hybrid and the Volkswagen Toureg TDI seemed to center on fuel economy. And it makes sense, Consumer Reports realizes it’s the number one issue on many buyers’ minds when they start shopping for their next vehicle. Performance is a close second, but the tie in with how many MPG one can squeeze out of a particular make and model of SUV makes it pretty moot.

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Light Duty Truck sales were up 28.5% in the month of January, 2011. This was great news for automakers, especially General Motors, whose sales have seen a sharp increase since December and a slow but stead incline since September. GM has statistically been outselling the competition in Light Truck and Crossover sales combined, but the market winner in overall truck sales in January was the Ford F Series.
The increase in sales during the final quarter of 2010 and the first month of 2011 would hopefully gender some excitement toward market share for automakers such as Chrysler, Ford and GM. But for now, Toyota and Honda seem to be the only two of the big five showing marked improvement.
Monthly popular truck sales are directly reflected at RealTruck.com when calculating accessories sold. Data reflecting model, make and year on accessories sold show trends in vehicle purchases as well as what particular promotions automaker are running. Types of accessories purchased are also an indicator of whether newer vehicles are being purchased. Nerf Bars, Bug Shields, Vent Visors, Mud Flaps and Tonneau Covers are many items not factory installed on new light duty trucks. These terms and more were highly searched and purchased during January.
The top twenty vehicles for the month of January, 2011:

Ford pickup trucks made between 2004 and 2006 are being recalled due to an airbag wiring defect. Originally the recall only included Ford trucks made between 2005 and 2006. Ford has since expanded the recall to include more due to pressure from the Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
“The expanded recall is for a possible short-circuit that could cause airbags to deploy unexpectedly, and involves nearly 1.2 million F-150 pickup trucks and 16,000 Lincoln Mark LT vehicles, said the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.”
Ford will begin notifying vehicle owners in May and instructing them to bring their trucks to local dealerships for repairs at no cost to the owner.
Do you have a Ford F 150 that will be part of this recall?
