I have a Jason bed cover on my 09 Ram 2500HD. It covers the tailgate when closed but, wanted some added security. I had a Bully Lock on my previous Dodge Ram 1500 and it worked fine. I purchased another and installed it. Took about 15 minutes and now not only does the bed cover have a lock on it, the tailgate does as well.

The tailgate lock was very simple to install. The first time I locked the tailgate it did not prevent entry. I will remove and reinstall to make sure I had the lock installed properly.

The tailgate lock mount that was shipped was sized for a 12mm bolt. However the standard bolt on my tailgate is 14mm (2003 Silverado) requiring me to drill and tap out the lock mount. After making that adjustment, the product worked as advertised.

I purchased the Bully tailgate lock for a 2008 shortbed Chev Silverado 1500 pickup. For some reason the lock failed to keep the calipers that open the tailgate from releasing. After installing it the tailgate would easily open. I sent it back to Real Truck. They made it real easy on me and did all the UPS finaggaling! When I received the replacement, I installed it and it still did not work. Real Truck readily re-imbursed me without any haggle. A very hassle free experience. Thanks Real Truck!!!

easy to instal and looks like it belongs there but just so people know, not "secure" if you pop the bezel off, you can break the chevy plastic clips that retain the latch rods that open the tailgate (yes plastic chevys fault not the locks) and open it anyway but better than nothing. also notice that it includes 2 different screws one is a tamper proof non removable one (not easily anyway) and one is a normal philips head.
my only suggestion for improvement: make the bezel (black outside part) metal and not easily removed maybe bolt on from the back or something like that.
bottom line: happy with it, easy to instal, looks great and better than no lock at all well worth the money should have gotten one a long time ago.

Shipped quickly. Was very easy to install, but I was not pleased with the way it fit once I got it on. Dosen't fit like the factory one, it didn't seal tightly to my tailgate. It does the job that I wanted it to do, so in that sence I am happy with it.

Installation was a breeze. Directions were clear and very helpfull. The only reason for not giving 5 stars is that I am not sure of the locks security. The design of the locking mechanism leads me to believe that if someone really pulled up hard on the handle that the tailgate would open.

Was really easy to install did it in about 10 minutes in -5 degree weather, works great tailgait opens just as easy as the factory handle and looks just like it. only problem is the lock is hard to see so you have to bend over to see where to put the key

Good. Easy to install. Looks and functions good.
Instructions not correct.
Says to remove bezel, then remove the lower center bolt on the inside of the tailgate.
In fact, the center bolt holds the OEM bezel in place in addition to the clips.
A man could bloody the tips of his finger trying to get the OEM bezel off.

I was very disappointed with this product. It seems very cheaply made. When I installed it the lock would close but would not release the key. When I tried to uninstall the product the screws would not turn. (Be sure not to use the one way screw provided) The only consolation was the professional way that REALTRUCK performed in refunding the purchase. I would not recommend purchasing this product but I would recommend doing business with REALTRUCK.

The unit installed without a great deal of difficulty. However, it doesn't latch very tightly... one good tug and it opens right up. I'm going to try and modify it a bit and see if I can make it operable.

The product does what it is supposed to do. The lock mechanism lined up perfectly and was fairly easy to install itself. Unfortunately, my paint was knicked because it is very hard to remove the OEM trim piece to access the innards of the tailgate. I wouldn't rely on the tailgate lock to be "bulletproof". I feel that if someone really wanted to get into the bed, a few really hard jerks on the handle could misalign the lock tooth and free up the tailgate. The service from RealTruck.com was amazing. Before I knew it, the lock was at my door!

Installed on 2008 Chev 1500. Product not only did not prevent opening tailgate when locked but did not even seam to provide the lease resistance to opening the latch. Poor craftmanship on the bazel...would not seat fully flush with tailgate. Seams to be an issue with the spring clips and how they were positioned on the replacement bazel. I have a Pop Lock on my 2004 Chev and it works as advertised so I ordered a Pop Lock for the 08...works perfectly...even better (so far) than the older version. It is slightly more expensive but you get what you pay for. Real Truck was great in refunding my purchase of the Pilot Bully! I will continue to buy from Real Truck! Great service, polite, professional!

The Pilot Bully lock is exactly what I was looking for. I wanted a lock that did not look like an aftermarket bolt-on. For my truck there was not an OEM factory option. The Pilot Bully lock fits totally inside the tailgate. The only visible part is the key-hole. Installation was really only 10 minutes. The whole process, ordering, shipping, and installation turned out to be a positive experience.

Excellent product, great service. One word of caution on installation: If using shims, be sure to place at bottom of bed edge, or rail will not fit so top can lock to rail. Follow all instructions, and don"t get in a hurry!! If you get the rails right, the top fits perfectly!!

I had a rolling top added to my truck which meant that the tailgate needed to be locked. I went to the truck dealer and they told me that they didn't have a kit to make the tailgate lock, so I went on the internet and found RealTruck. I ordered the lock and installed it.
