I bought the Core Big Max at first for strength, but the online size specifications were off by a couple inches thereby making the Big Max too wide for my Toyota Tacoma. The Manufacturer suggested that I could shorten the Core Big Max bar, but I chose not to.

Both Real Truck and the manufacturer were real easy to deal with in getting this mistake corrected at no expense to me (actually they sent me the Big Max Junior version, paid for return shipping, and credited me for the price difference (as any good company would have done as the literature specifications were wrong)).

Another reviewer suggested the ratchet on the Big Maxx Junior is in the "middle" of the cargo bar when used on full sized trucks. If you have a full size truck, don't be cheap . . . . . . . . . Spend a little more to get the Core Big Max which has enough power to do some serious sidewall bending.

The Big Max is more stiff than the Junior, but you must first screw the ends to adjust the bar prior to clamping it down. Yes the Big Maxx Junior may be more "flimsy" than the Big Maxx, however, how much sidewall bending do you want to do? The Big Maxx Junior is far easier to use as you simply can ratchet it into place to your desired tension, without first having to fit it.

Excellent product, good company.

1. The first problem I saw with this was that the ratchet is in the middle of the cargo bar, so...depending on your truck height, width and whether you have some sort of cover makes it almost impossible to reach. After I crawled under the truck cover to get to where I wanted to install the bar a couple of other issues arose.
2. Since I have a full-sized bed, the bar has to stretch to >60". When this happens the bar becomes extremely flimsy since it gets its rigidity from having a tube within a tube (so it can telescope) and I ended up, essentially, a pivot point in the middle of the bar.
3. The ratching mechanism is very flaky and slips before it can apply any sort of force. True, I don't want to crush my side walls, but it barely has enough force to hold itself in place.
2 stars is being kind.

This is not a fancy cargo bar with nets and pockets but I only needed one to keep items from sliding to the front of the bed. This cargo bar fits the bill. Strong construction and easy to use. I can put the bar in place and tighten into place with one hand. If you want simple, this is the one. If you want durable and easy to use, this is the one as well. Peace.

Ratchet could be better. Works about as well as a cheap tie down ratchet. Other than that item works well and does keep my tool box and other items at the back of my box rather than sliding all over the bed. Reasonable quality for the cost.

This was exactly what my husband was looking for to secure different size loads in the bed of his pickup truck. It is very easy to use and stays in place. Excellent product.
