The Cross Tread Renegade XT is made with an over the truck cab design. It is made out of heavy-duty 14 gauge steel tubing and is finished with a thick layer of powder coat. The completely adjustable design is made possible by the ingeniously placed bolts and telescoping poles. Having these great features, the Renegade XT truck racks fit most mini and full sized trucks out there.

Weight capacity seems to be a much talked about rack feature and we think you will be pleased about the high weight capacity that the Renegade XT is rated for. These bad boy truck racks can withstand weights of up to 1,000 lbs. exceeding all your expectations. They are also featuring quick release locking pins for rear bar removal, three cross rails and the steel diamond plate ends finish this superb rack off. The included camper shell mounting brackets will allow you to mount this rack over tonneau covers and toppers.

The rack came with some parts packed inside other parts. Once I figured out that they were inserted backwards the job of installing it was fairly easy. One should be sure to go around w/ wrenches and check the tightness of all nut & bolts after driving an hour or so.

Installed on a 2008 Chev Colorado, with a 5' bed and crew cab. The installation was a bit more complicated than many truck applications. For instance, to bolt the rear uprights to the bed rail I had to remove the taillights to get access to the nuts and washers. I found a strong magnet, the type used to hold tools on the wall, could not only hold the uprights while I placed the washers and bolts, but it had the added benefit of holding the washers in place while I put the nut on the tip of may finger and turned the bolt to start it. If I had to do it without the magnet I don't think my extra large hand would have fit. I also had to cut about 6 inches from the side rails and drill new holes at the cut end to make it fit. The rack can still extend out 10+ feet.

One mod I intend to make is to weld the rack onto 2"X2" angle iron that would be the full length of the bed and across the front. That would allow easy off and on with clamps.

Shortly after purchase, I carried about 500 pounds of 20' pipe set directly in the middle of the rack. It carried the weight quite well although greater weights likely stress the thin metal rails on the truck bed.

Overall a well made product with a heavy gloss black paint. Does not include the rear window guard shown in the picture, but I didn't expect it anyway so no big deal.
