The bolt that holds the the shock has broken twice on 2011 silverado when i open the tailgate. Maybe tailgate is to heavy for the gate or needs a stronger shock.
I call realtruck send them a picture and they send out a new one.

It took all of about 10 minutes to install, like others have said, the instructions aren't the best when it comes to nut install tool. You have to hold the allen screw while you turn the nut. But this should be the first accessory you get for your truck! Works great!

This thing is a piece of junk. Bought one for a Chevy 1500 for the father-inlaw and one for myself for a Ford F150. Both are in the trash. Save your money!

You should see the heads turn when you just drop the gate and there is no boom just a gentle release of the tail gate smooth and quiet.
I installed this in approx. 15 minutes and that was taken time to read the instructions. EZ describes it. It is EASY. I always check Realtruck.com before I buy anything from any where else. www.realtruck.com Rocks

I wish I had had one of these years ago. It's made very well and was easy to install and even came with a little bottle of the blue-type thread lock to use on bolts. It's handier than heck to open the tailgate and then just let it slowly descend to the open position all by itself. If something happens to it, I'll definitely get another one.

I have seen a few on line and i was really looking at buying it not for the only reason that it make it easier to lower the tail gate but i have a Grandson who like to play in the back of my truck and i was worried that he may let the Tailgate fall and hit him in the Head so this was the main reason i put this item on my truck so that i would not have to worry that he could get hit in the head with the Tailgate. I can now say that i do not have to worry about that and i would like to say thank you to Real-Truck for a great Item.
