The ez down tailgate lowering assist kit was easy to install and works great. However, I think it is missing something, although the order was complete, I feel that where the strut attaches to the tailgate there should be a compression ring that snaps into the groove on the supplied metal piece, thus keeping the strut from sliding from side to side at the tailgate connection.

This is the third EZ Down within a year and a half. The first one completle failed and spared oil over the bed. The firt replacement (the factory made good on their 2 year warranty) cracked on the weld within 2 weeks of instalation. This third set-up is now on the truck and is doing an excellent job. The Dee Zee folks NEED to check the upper welds in QC , or do a complete circular weld. Real truck made good on their warranty. Dee Zee gave me a hard time when I called direct. Other than that, the unit does what it is supposed to. Pay attention to the unit when you lower the tailgate. GMC Sierra owner.

Easy to install. Works as advertised. Highly recommended if don't want a heavy tailgate slamming down on you. I put on my 2009 Ram and now my wife doesn't have to wrestle with a tailgate that is trying to push her out of the way.

Works as said. Only complaint is it sometimes forces the tailgate cable to the outside. This causes the cable to be visible outside the tailgate.

This is a great accessory for your truck, escpecially if you have a heavy tailgate. Installed quickly and easily, works great. It is a little pricey but if your are ok with the price then you will not be disappointed. I like it because it eliminates wear, tear and damage from people dropping my tailgate like brick. Also if anything it is worth it for the novelty.

I enjoy the product! It was kind of tuff to get the bolts loose on the tailgate part. The only problem I have with it, is that the strap that connects the tailgate to the body it gets in the way and u cant close it all the way until u move the strap! But the product works excellent! Im pleased with my purchase!!

Arrived on time. Took less than 15 minutes to install. Everything fit perdectly. Works like a champ. First time u close tailgate..make sure cable tucks in the way it should as it may get a little deflected by the piston. Tailgate just comes down easy. If you have stuff like groceries in your hand...it makes it simple. Highly recommend. A little expensive but worth if for the convenience, safety and reduced wear and tear.

After having a Nissan Titan with factory tailgate assist,I was spoiled.
So when I purchased a Nissan 09 Frontier that did not have tailgate assist I started searching for a solution,that's when I found this product .
The install was easy for me it took about 15-20 minutes to install.
Tools needed for the install are 10mm,14mm socket or wrench and 6mm allen wrench,flat blade screw driver that's it.
This product functions just as well as the factory one on my Titan.
I highly recommend this product it makes putting the tail gate up or down a one handed operation with out have to hold the weight of the tail gate.

PRODUCT IS GREAT NO MORE SLAM OF THE TAIL GATE! JUST HOPE IT HOLDS UP BETTER THEN HOOD SHOCKS AS I'M SURE IT WILL BECAUSE IT'S NOT HOLDING UP ALL THAT WEIGHT.

Wow.. Just installed the Dee Zee EZ Down Tailgate on my 2004 Dodge Ram 1500. It took about 30 minutes (probably cause it was 26 degrees outside). The tailgate comes down so smooth and effortless. I no longer have to juggle anything I'm carrying and also deal with an heavy tailgate that slams down like a guillotine trying to chop your arm off. This is a must have, wish I did it when I bought the truck.

My tailgate lowering assist kit arrive promptly (in a box larger than necessary I might note).
The directions were clear and concise. Fit and finish looked good. The quality of the assist plunger looked to be the same as the back hatch lift assist plungers on my other GM vehicle. A ratchet, open ended box wrench and 15 minutes and it was installed.
I've used it for several months now and it still performs like new. Even in weather in the low teens for extended periods.

This product was delivered a day late,No biggie.The product would not fit my truck,but I knew that when I ordered it just removed the centering bracket on the gate.I truly love it my gate has a steel fold up step so it was very heavy to let down.

The EZ Down is a great addition to my truck.It really prevents the tailgate from slamming down and possibly hitting you.However it gets a little tight around the installation area and you have to give the tailgate alittle more push to close.This concerns me as far as wear & tear of the gate cable.

Would have been 5 stars, but the heat shrink protective shield is a bit of a cheap fix for the protection of the strut.
The product works very well and I have showed to to many truck owner and they have been impressed. Easy to install.

Great Item, works as it should. The cable protector could use some reworking, kind of a cheap fix. The shipping package was poorly packed no protection for the assist kit. The first one I received was damaged from poor packing, this one was packed the same, but survived.

Works great.Easy to install.Best thing invented to stop the tail gate from falling on your child. Product should be up for a saftey award.
Try it and you will want one on your next vehicle.But remember your friends don't have it. So their tailgate will drop really fast and make a loud noise.

GREAT PRODUCT!! REALLY ESSENTIAL FOR CHEVY TAILGATES WITH RHINOLINER. THE ONLY PROBLEMS WITH THE EZ DOWN IS SOME INCREASE IN CLOSING EFFORT ALONG WITH THE NEED FOR SOME CARE LIFTING THE TAILGATE TO AVOID UNHINGING THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE GATE. NO NEED NOW FOR THE KIDS TO CHECK THEIR ESCAPE ROUTES BEFORE UNLATCHING THE THE TAILGATE. PLUS BEING ABLE TO UNLATCH THE GATE AND WALK AWAY WHILE THE GATE GRACEFULLY GLIDES DOWN ADDS A BIT OF WOW TO TO WHAT WAS A CHORE.

This is an awesome product! How many times have you had your hands full and opened the tail gate and you have to jump out of the way before it hits you? No more with this product. Young and old will appreciate its ease of installation and the price and certainly what it does by easing your tail gate down. And don't forget the passers by that will be amazed as it goes down. Overall great product and a must for any truck owner.
