My dad is my rock several years ago he finally got his first NEW truck.
A dodge no less anyway had a bed lid put on it and while it was there I paid to have the automatic tailgate lock installed as a surprise. Need less to say we have replaced the acuator several times. This time the place that sold it to him told us he would have to pay 199.00 for a complete new kit because they dont sell just the acuator. WRONG I am in the parts business and I know better . Thank you REAL TRUCK YOU ROCK IT WAS ONLY 28.00 YOU ARE THE BEST.

This product was exactly what it reported to be. If you have any mechanical ability at all it will be easy to install. The directions provided were very acurate and easy to follow. I am impressed at how it works and it fullfills my needs for being able to lock my tailgate and protect the contents inside the box.

Installed on an 09 Ford F150. The mount at the tailgate is straightforward. What to do with the relay bundle in the engine compartment is a bit unclear. I tucked it into a space next to the air filter housing and that works fine. It stays put. Wiring in the kick panel was a bit of a challenge due to the shear number of wires there. The instructions were correct in terms of which wire colors to connect to but could be better in helping to identify where exactly to locate these. There are many similarities and I tried a few to get it right. I found better success in the compartment in the door jam. Once wired the device has worked without any problems and I have recommended it to others.

Well designed unit, easy to install. Poor quality lock mechanism.
Has already failed after two weeks.
Will be trying one more, if it fails also, will return.

Installation was simple and described. Unfortunately the detail of how the lock works is not described. Rather than activating the factor lock (which disengages the handle, thus locking it, this product throws a steel pin across 1/2 of the tailgate handle preventing it from being pulled open. As the pin only blocks 1/2 of the handle though, the handle when pulled while locked will pull partially open on the right side. The tailgate won't open, but it doesn't feel very secure and I get the sense that if someone pulled on it hard enough, then handle would simply break. The design clearly has room for improvement.

The lock bracket will have to be modified if you have a backup camera. I could not find the wires in the left kick panel. There are hundreds of wires in the kick panel, none have the color markings indicated in the document or 2008 F150. I'll have to wait for a warmer day when I can remove the door panel & trace the wires from the lock and switch.

It's just a switch, but Pace-Edwards could have made something a bit nicer looking than just a standard 3 way toggle. Not even a label on switch. Disappointing but it works.
