DODGE COMP FAQ’s
Q: WILL INSTALLING THE DODGE COMP VOID MY FACTORY WARRANTY?  A: While the answer is straightforward from a legal standpoint, we also want to educate our customers (and after-market consumers) on some industry realities and offer some common sense precautions to minimize your risk.  Consumers of aftermarket products are protected by The Federal Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act. The Act states that if something breaks on your car and you take it in for warranty repair, the dealer must honor your warranty unless they can prove that whatever modifications you have added to your car actually caused the problem. While as a consumer you have strong legal protection regarding your vehicle’s warranty, there is also a practical reality that different automotive manufacturers and dealers have greatly varying views on aftermarket products, in particular those that produce horsepower, such as performance enhancement chips, modified intake manifolds, or aftermarket exhaust systems. There are dealers and manufacturers out there that will use the presence of a horsepower upgrade to void your vehicle’s warranty. They will do this regardless of whose product you are using. Any aftermarket company that does not acknowledge this is misleading you.  The bottom line is that while the law protects the consumer and provides for enforcement of the warranty, it is very difficult for most people to hire an attorney and fight a voided warranty. Edge recommends that you always disconnect and/or remove any performance device or programmer before you take your vehicle to a dealer for any service, in order not to interfere with Diagnostic equipment.
Q: DO I HAVE TO PIERCE THE PUMP WIRE?  A: No. By not piercing the pump wire the Comp will automatically be set like an EZ at 65 hp, and 185 ft. lbs. There will not be an additional increase in horsepower until the wire is pierced.
Q: DO I NEED TO UPGRADE MY TRANSMISSION WHEN I ADD THE COMP? A: Upgrading the transmission is not necessary, but it is a great addition, and will help prevent torque converter slippage. It is possible to overdrive the transmission with the comp box, so if you plan on towing heavy loads or driving hard, you should upgrade your transmission
Q: WHAT TYPE OF EGT'S SHOULD I EXPECT TO SEE WHILE RUNNING THE COMP? A: With normal driving your EGT's should remain the same. Under a heavy load in level 3 and above you could see as high as 1350 degrees.  Installing a pyrometer gauge is highly recommended to be able to manage your EGT's. For safety, EGT's should remain below 1350 degrees.
Q: WHAT POWER LEVEL IS THE BEST TO TOW WITH?  A: Levels 2 and under are the best to tow with. This will help keep your EGT's under control and the power increase, even while towing, is manageable for your transmission.
Q: WHAT TYPE OF BOOST INCREASE SHOULD I EXPECT TO SEE?  A: With your waste gate disabled you will see an increase to 26 lbs in level 1.  In level 5 you could see as high as 32 lbs.
Q: HOW MUCH OF AN INCREASE IN GAS MILEAGE SHOULD I EXPECT TO GAIN?  A: With normal driving up to a 10% increase in fuel efficiency. Fuel efficiency can vary according to your driving style.
Q: HOW DO I GET THE BEST FUEL MILEAGE?  A: Do not change driving habits from normal "good driving mileage" habits.  Some find it hard to do with the extra power provided by the Comp.
Q: WHAT DO THE SUB-LEVELS AFFECT?  A: The sub-levels affect fueling responsiveness and control the amount of smoke that is created under low boost conditions, this will be especially noticeable if other fueling enhancements have been installed.
Q: DOES THE COMP WORK THE SAME WITH THE ETH MOTOR AS IT DOES WITH THE ETC MOTOR?  A: The Comp responds better to the ETC motor than the ETH. With the ETC you will see gains from 40- 120 hp and 350 ft. lbs of torque. With the ETH you will see gains from 40-95 hp and 280 ft. lbs of torque.

The Edge Comp features five power levels with power gains from 40-120 horsepower. Each of the five power levels has an independent five-level adjustable responsiveness setting, providing for a total of 25 levels of adjustability! The responsiveness settings enable you to dial-in the optimum balance between responsiveness and low boost smoke control, no matter what additional power modifications have been made to the engine. The Comp module is fully adjustable on the fly and mounts inside the cab.

Sub-levels 1-3 on the Comp will provide de-fueling below stock. The de-fueling mode is entered only when rpm and boost are below a set value and stock fueling is being increased beyond a set rate. These conditions are different for each sub-level 1-3. During operation, when the de-fueling mode is entered, the rate of fueling increase is limited, which reduces smoke. De-fuel mode is exited once stock fueling equals the fueling controlled by the Comp. This way the transition is smooth and cannot be felt while driving. De-fuel mode is entered the easiest in sub-level 1 and has the smallest allowable fuel increase, while sub-level 3 de-fuel mode is not entered as easily and has a larger allowable fuel increase.
Sub-levels 4 and 5 allow adjustment of the additional fueling above stock based on boost level. Sub-level 5 adds the most fuel at low boost; Sub-level 4, which adds less fuel than Sub-level 5, corresponds to jumper setting 2 on the EZ.
The amount of additional fuel added is calculated, the amount actually added after being compared to boost from the total is as shown below:
Sub level 1: 33% is added at 0 psi boost
100% is added at 20 psi boost
Sub level 2: 50% is added at 0 psi boost
100% is added at 15 psi boost
Sub level 3: 67% is added at 0 psi boost
100% is added at 10 psi boost
Fuel may be added at 0 psi boost on all Sub Levels and EZ Jumper settings unless the de-fuel mode is entered as described above.
Power Level 1 on the Comp is the same as the EZ; on Power Levels 2-5 additional power is added via the wire tap onto the injection pump. If the pump wire is not attached with a Comp, Levels 2-5 are still operational, but the power gain is not any higher than Level 1. Under this scenario, however, power will come on much earlier in the throttle
