Manufacturer InformationMagna Flow Performance Exhaust got its start as a natural extension of Car Sound Exhaust Systems, Inc their parent company, that specializes in superior catalytic converter technology they have spent 25 years earning a reputation as a market leader around the world. MagnaFlow has an extensive manufacturing center covering 125,000 square feet with an additional 25,000 square feet of raw material storge all operations required for the manufacture of MagnaFlow mufflers, systems, tips and converters as well as all warehousing are conducted from this location.View all MagnaFlow Performance Exhausts products View available Products for this Product Line |
MagnaFlow is the world leader in the manufacturing of automotive catalytic converters. MagnaFlow performance catalytic converters are designed for optimum flow. All converters feature a 100% stainless steel body and heat shield. They contain a low resistance ceramic catalyst, ribbed body construction, and funnel inlet and outlet for smooth exhaust flow. Being the world leader in cats, MagnaFlow invests heavily in R&D to ensure they are offering the most environmentally friendly and least restrive catalytic converters on the market. They offer converters in both direct fit and universal fit designs. MagnaFlow offers direct fit catalytic converters for both domestic and import cars, trucks, and SUV's. For vehicles without direct fit applications or those with custom exhaust systems, a wide selection of universal cats are available to fit any application. All MagnaFlow catalytic converters are 49 state legal and meet California OBDII requirements. All direct fit converters are designed for easy bolt on installation and require no cutting, welding, or bending. The universal fit cats work well with with just about any application, but will require tools for cutting, welding, and bending.
- Ribbed Body: All MagnaFlow catalytic converters feature a ribbed body that gives added strength
- Stainless Steel: 100% Stainless Steel materials wont rust or oxidize.
- 1/2" Welded Lap Joints: All joints are welded 1/2" overlapped joints to ensure leak free quality.
- Catalyst Material: MagnaFlow catalytic converters use a monolithic honeycomb catalyst. The ceramic is designed for maximum flow and surface area, reducing flow restrictions.
- Seam Welded Body: MagnaFlow converters are seam welded close to the converter body for a strong tight bond that prevents the catalyst from becoming loose and shifting.
- OEM Heat Shield: MagnaFlow catalytic converters uses an OEM style ribbed heat shield that creates a rigid wall of heat protection and adds structural stability.
- OBDII Compliant: All MagnaFlow catalytic converters are 49 state legal and OBDII compliant.
- Direct Fit: Direct Fit catalytic converters are designed to bolt on to the existing exhaust for quick and easy installation. No cutting or fabricating should be necessary.
- Universal Fit: Universal Fit catalytic converters offer a universal fit for several application uses. Universal fit cats also work well with custom builds and exhaust systems. Generally, cutting, welding, and bending will be needed to properly fit a universal catalytic converter.
SELECTING THE PROPER UNIVERSAL:
(Non OBD-II Vehicles)
Engine Size:
Determine engine size before selecting the converter. Converters are listed according to legal engine size.
If engine has been changed and is not the same model year as the chassis, proceed as follows:
Determine the type of converter being replaced. Check whether the converter is a 2-Way, 3-Way, or 3-Way + Air (See EFCI Click Here).
Vehicle Weight (Test Weight):
Determine the weight limit before selecting the converter. Converter coverage is listed according to Test Weight.
How To Calculate Vehicle Test Weight:
For passenger cars and light duty trucks less than 6000 lbs. GVW
Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) Less Vehicle Capacity Plus 300 Lbs. = Vehicle Test Weight.
For trucks over 6000 pounds GVW
(Gross Vehicle Weight + Curb Weight) x 1/2 = Vehicle Test Weight
This information can be found on a tag inside vehicle door or in the vehicle owner’s manual (Use as estimate only).

If engine has been changed and is not the same model year as the chassis, proceed as follows:
- If the engine is older than the chassis, select the converter according to the chassis model year.
- If the engine is newer than the chassis, select the converter according to the engine requirement.
- Inform the owner that improper engine switching is not legal. The customer and the shop that switched the engine could be fined $2,500.00.

Most Direct Fit Catalytic Converters offer a direct bolt on design for quick and easy installation. At home installation with general hand tools is possible for most users with general mechanical knowledge. Some applications may require cutting and welding.
Universal Fit Catalytic Converters often times require much greater mechanical ability and more specalized tools for cutting, welding, and bending tubing. Installation of universal fit catalytic converters is recommended to be done by trained professionals only.

Car Sound Exhaust Systems, Inc. warrants that its catalytic converters are free from defects in materials and workmaship. This catalytic converter has been designed and manufactured to meet State and Federal emisssion reduction requirements, and when the vehicle is properly maintained, the catalytic converter is warranted to meet such requirements for 25,000 miles from the time of installation and it will not constitute a safety hazard. Car Sound warrants its catalytic converters externel shell, including end pipes to last 5 years or 50,000 miles, which ever comes first, from the date of installation. This catalytic converter has been designed and manufactured to meet these warranty requirements.
