I did not use this prouct for a truck. Rather i installed it into my 2004 saturn ion with a body kit. the back bumper on the body kit has room for grille along the bottom. so to get the light centered in the open grille area i got a two by four and some metal to wood apoxy. Then took the piece of wood painted it black and used the tape that came on the tailgate light to tape it to the pice of wood. then once all the paint and tape dried i used the apoxy to affix the piece of wood to my actual bumper which already had the waffle pieces removed for the instilation of the body kit. Then for good measure i used zipp ties just to make sure the light would not move.Also my instilation was probly harder than most becasuse i had to link wires instead of just pluging it in, but the end result is amazing. I purchased this on the 21st of August and I love it. It is easy to put on, I had a friend help me mount it so I would be sure to get it on straight but the rest I did on my own,there is very simple directions on wiring it to the tail light for the reverse lights to work. The salesman Jason and the secretary Bonnie were very professional and two wonderful people to work with. It was shipped very fast and packed very well. I am totally thrilled with my 2 purchases with REALTRUCK and the people that work there and I will definitely buy more for my 2006 Dodge Ram show truck in the future!!

Very satisfied with the product. A few things I would change: add to the directions a warning about the placement of the light bar, if the light bar is placed the wrong position when the tailgate is opened it would actually crush the light bar. I was very lucky and barely missed hitting mine. (2006 Silverado 2500HD) The other thing I would change with the product is having it prepped for hard wiring and include connectors to splice into vehicle wiring. I don't know too many people that want the look of the pigtail hanging off of the back of their truck and in my case I have to use an adapter to use the 4 wire connector. Therefore, I would have it optional for the trailer pigtail connection.

This tailgate light bar works very well. The only problem I had was that I could not install it where or how the instructions suggested. I have a 1996 Dodge Ram and between the tailgate and the top of the bumper does not work because there is a place there where you insert the tire tool and turn it to lower and raise the spare tire. But it only took me a few extra minutes to drill holes along the bottom edge of the tailgate and install it there.
I have had several people follow me into parking lots and ask me about it. So, as far as the red lights go it works great. I have not been able to see the white lights yet because I found that my reverse lights no longer worked at all when I was installing this light bar. But I am sure once I get them working the white lights will work as great as the red ones do.

Well, the product is for christmas for my husband, but I have a comment for packaging. When I ordered the product, and you asked for extra instructions for the product being shipped, I said to not ship it in the product box please have it in a plain box. It was a gift, Everytime I order through Recon (etc), My husband is home ready to except his gift. And guess what he was home this time also, but luckily I was to and made him leave the room while I direct the driver to place it somewhere else. If I can't rely on packaging, this might be the last time I order and will not recommend to anyone else. That's a drag because I absolutely loved your website and prices.

This is a neat product. i have had three different kinds of LED tailgate lights. This one seems to be the best out of all of them. Unfortunately it suffers from the same downfall as other LED taillights do, and that is the running lights. When the running lights are on, and a turn signal is sent to the bar it is extremely difficult to see the flash on either side of the led bar. All the manufactures seem to have this same problem. To solve it, i do not hook up the running lights. The LED bar will only operate in turn signals, hazards, or reverse (which is a really nice feature) otherwise I would recommend this product over any other standard red LED taillight bar.

I really like the light bar. It works very well and as advertised. Very fast shipping at a very good price. I would have given it 5 out of 5 stars if it wasn't for the incomplete and/or inaccurate hard wire electrical connection instructions.
So every one knows: You have to hard wire (splice)it into the trailer wiring harness and not spliced directly to the tail light and parking light. If you connect directly to the light, the brake light will not work (I did it this way). I had to re-wire to the trailer harness. My question then becomes "what if you don't have a trailer wiring harness" which is implied in the advertisement. After some research, I am told you would need an adapter to spice in to get it to work. They should tell you this before you buy the light or at least indicate this in the instruction.
Bottom line is I really like the light! Happy wiring!

I like the light bar and it works and looks great. The problem is that when installed on my 2004 F150 IT DOESN'T FIT AS SMOOTH AS RENCON CLAIMS IT WILL. YOU WILL HAVE TO DO SOME MODIFYING OF THE LIGHT BAR TO GET IT TO WORK AND FASTEN FLUSH TO SURFACE. I first had to cut a 1/2 inch by 5/8 inch long notch in the black plastic part of the light bar housing to allow the tailgate pin to pass through the light bar when the tailgate is opened. Then on the F150 the opening on the panel under the tailgate /above the bumper where the pin passes through is not flush with the rest of the body. It has a raised area. That required me to build up the back of the light bar with a couple of strips of double sided sticky foam tape. None of these things are really a problem IF YOU KNOW THEM UP FRONT! Problem is Rencon doesn't tell you so when you try to install it you have problems until you figure out a way to fasten it satisfactory to a newer model F150. They are negligent in letting you believe there is nothing that needs to be done except adhere it to the surface with the glue/tape strips supplied. Now you F150 owners will be prepared. Once again, it looks really great just takes a bit more work than they claim. Funny thing is is that if you install it without doing anything. The first time you open the tailgate with the light bar on you'll break the light bar plastic housing with the pin in the bottom of the tailgate.....go figure! This is odd considering the F150 is the best selling truck in the U.S.

The first bar I purchased had 3 LED's burnt out(not Real Truck's fault). I called Real Truck back and they took care of it immediately. They e-mailed a return label next day. I shipped package back and e-mailed them the tracking number and they sent out a replacement before they received the damaged one back at no cost to me. I've since received new part and have it installed and it is working fine. All this took place in less than five days. Definitely a first class place to do business with.

Received as gift for Christmas for my 2007 Hummer H3 but on the hummer h3 it is not possible to mount where it was intended to be mounted. It has to be mounted on the lower (far bottom edge) of the tailgate door. the light seems to work good except when the lights are on , on the vehicle and you turn the blinker on the opposite side faintly blinks also. kinda was annoying so I cut the wire on the light bar for the park light and just use the blinker & brake light part of the bar seems to work good.

Installation was easy and instructions were reasonably clear. The additional lighting makes truck more visible and gives and additional feeling of safety. Unfortunately multiple white LED's failed within two weeks after installation.

It mounts below the gate in the factory holes. It plugs right into the tow harness. It's plastic so it wont rust. All the LED are lit and it looks great. It doesn't bing against the gate. Did I mention the white LED are pretty cool?

It appeared to be a nice product but didn't fit my 2005 Tundra (not mentioned on the website). There was not enough space under the tailgate. Looking at the GM/Ford, etc., they have almost 2 inches of free space to place the product while the Tundra's designed left less than 1 inch, which would have crushed the light bar. I've seen it on other trucks and I think it looks great!
