  • Snow Plow Mounting Options

    Snowplows are available in a few type a mounting options and styles.

    Front Mount PlowsFront Mount Snow Plows:  Generally speaking, mounting a plow on the front of a vehicle is most practical.  This gives the operator an easier view over the snow removal.  Front Mount Plows come with 2 styles of mounts:  2″ Front Hitch Mount or Brand Specific Plow Mounts.  Front mount plows are available in personal use or commerical use designed. 

    • 2″ Front Receiver Hitch Mount:  The snow plow attaches to a 2″ x 2″ receiver hitch on the front of the pickup or SUV.  The attachment is generally easily as there is only 1 connection point.  Hitch mounted plows are only designed for personal use.  The Snow Sport HD, Snow Sport 180,  Snow Sport ATV/UTV, Snow Bear Polar Pro and Northman 2300 personal plows are examples of this kind of mount.
    • Brand Specific Plow Front Mounts:  Some brands of snow plows such as Snow Bear, Curtis and Northman Plows make their own front plow mounts.  Each mount is slightly different, but generally has 2 attachment points.  These plows are generally are more heavy duty and weigh more.  These mounts are available for both personal plows such as the Snow Bear BB50, BB100, BB200 or the Northman 3100 Series personal plows and commerical plows such as the Curtis Home Pro 3000 or the Northman 2300 Pro Series.

    Rear Mount PlowsRear Mount Snow Plows:  These plows can come in handy if you have loading docks or a vehicle that has a rear 2″ hitch.  Mounting options for rear plows are limited to vehicles equipped with a 2″ rear receiver hitch.  Commercial Rear Mount Plows include brands such as the Superplow Rear Plows and Personal use rear hitch mounted plows include the SnowSport HD and the Snow Sport 180 snow plows.
