Installation
This product offers an easy installation on most models. Simply clean the underside lip of your hood, insert the plastic inserts into existing holes to underside of hood and snap into place. Line up hood protector and place washer on each of the mounting screws and insert screws into place and fasten. Good looking Bug Guard!! The complaints are: (1) Its a little warped. Hits the top of chrome grill a little on the left side when closed. Tried to adjust out several times while mounting but realized it was a little warped and would not adjust. (2) Had trouble with the mounting hardware. It came with SQUARE plastic nut inserts but hood had round holes where it was to be mounted. Was able to get square inserts in round holes but when I inserted mounting screws it just spun the plastic clips. Could not tighten screws down. Trip to the parts store later, I had to get bigger square insert and hammer it in so it wouldn't spin. Needs a better way to mount. (3) Instructions should be more detailed. Says use piercing screws on the two outside connections. They should provide self-tapping screws instead of piercing or tell what size drill bit they recommend to make pilot hole. As for REALTRUCK.....they're great! Bout the only place I could find this particular bug guard. First one arrived cracked and they were great on the exchange. No Problem and good to work with. No one else makes a Chrome Bug Guard for a 2008 Ford Escape except Stampede (Ventshade, etc. don't make it in Chrome) so I guess I'll just have to deal with my complaints since there's no other competition I can go to. As far as the rating.........I give RealTruck 5 Stars.....The product gets a 2-3 Star.
