|I had an Access cover on my 2004 Ford Ranger for 10+ years and it held up great. So I naturally came back to Access for my new truck, a 2015 GMC Canyon. The cover fits great, and is nice quality. However, there are some issues with the design of the Canyon bed that makes the installation of the front weather seal and the tailgate seal a little tricky. This is not the fault of the cover, I imagine you would have the same issue with any cover unless you do some customization. |
On the front weather seal, because the top edge of the box has a large radius, make sure you slide the rails as far forward as they will go (which you are supposed to do anyhow). However, there is still 1/4 inch or more space between the flat top surface of the box where you would normally want to stick the seal. You need to put the seal on the corner radius, not on top, in order to get a decent seal to the tonneau rails. Also, I think the plastic caps on tops of the bed sides need to be caulked because there looks to be a huge gap that is not sealed at that point (again not the fault of the cover).
The back tailgate seal took a bit of fiddling to get something to seal, due to the shape of the bed and tailgate. I had to install the seal in 5 separate pieces (one piece under the lip of the bed, one piece on each of the vertical bed sides, which is normal, but then I had to add two custom cut pieces to conform to the radius of the box and tailgate at each of the corners). Not perfect, but came out pretty good, and only weak spot (I think) will be at the very top on each side, just was no perfect way to seal that. I should take a picture of this, not easy to explain : )
Overall, it fits well, good quality, and I'm glad I installed it, but inspect the shape of your tailgate/box first if you don't want to do some fiddling with the seals.
