I bought these because they satisfied three specific requirements. First, they were offered with 'frame-mount' brackets, which actually mount using the existing body mount bolts, with a rubber-tipped 'kicker' that rests against the frame. No drilling and more importantly, no removal of the plastic rocker panel plugs. Silverados are notorious for rockers and cab corners rotting, so I refuse to mount anything there. These mounts are rock solid..... I'm 6-'3" and 260# and they don't budge. Second, They sit back just far enough to allow OEM front flaps. Not much gets past these boards + flaps. As if that's not enough, there's a gasket similar to a 'weather-strip between the boards and rockers that keeps even more crap from finding it's way up your door panels. Third, they look good. Not quite as 'sporty' as some step rails, and look a little 'old school', but if you want to protect your paint, provide a 'step' for short people, and want to add years to your rockers (especially if you live in the rust belt like I do), these are a good choice. My only complaint is that the mounting brackets could be about 1/2" longer. The boards are pre-drilled for stainless 'carriage' bolts and they hit open 'slots' at both ends of the brackets. I had to add stainless flat washer to ensure good contact with the brackets so I could position the boards exactly where they needed to be. There is some wiggle-room on the body mounts, but that is hard to control if mounting by yourself. I'm definitely glad that I went with these rather than step bars, simply because I want this truck to live longer than me. If I keep pump-spraying used oil into the rockers it probably will. I don't think these would be right for guys that do serious off-road stuff, as they wouldn't fare too well if hit with a rock or stump, but for street use with a little 'back-roading' (usually small stones/gravel/mud where speeds are higher and crap flies everywhere) they are perfect. The black boards like these, which I believe are plastic with an aluminum underside, would be better suited for off-road.

The biggest issue I had with these rails was the packaging used for shipment! The cardboard was rotten and falling apart when I got them. Due to this, there was a small dent in one of the rails. Most people will not not see it, but I know it is there. Other than that, they went in fairly easy and look great. They are wide, but needed this for the wife!
They are awesome in every way.

The bottom of the stainless steel edge is sharp enough that while squatting and laying it on my knee to line it up, it cut through my sweat pants and into my leg. I was wearing gloves and it cut those too. You must take off the hanging bracets that come assembled and add them to the truck one at a time, using only one of two holes in the frame in some cases if two are not present in that spot, then lay the board onto the hanging brackets and reattach them. Trying it any other way is dangerous. Do it that way works well and by the time I got to the second side and knew what I was doing it went fast and smooth. The directions leave a lot to be desired. The product works well, looks good, handles weight, and fits between oversized fender flares unlike some competitor's steps which hit the front flare or mud flaps.
