Part #: IPC-CWS-501C2 Posted on
|I purchased IPCW Headlights, Part # IPC-CW5-501C2, Projector with Halos, Chrome with Clear for a 1998 Ford F150, for $197.03 on 9/27/13. Unfortunately, the directions were terrible - didn't match the headlights and they were written in improper english. Real Truck customer service could not help (said the headlight company directions were bad on line as well) so I took them to my local garage to install. This is unusual for me because I can work on cars, I just didn't have a lot of time. Turns out the left headlight low beam was improperly manufactured so the garage had to remove the headlights from my truck after they found the defect. I had to return the headlights to RealTruck (now we're at $125 labor).|
At that point I called RealTruck to complain - decided to buy different lights from another manufacturer - part # ANX-111031, IPCW Headlights, IPC-CWS-501C2. The customer support person said they would send me directions on how to mail the bad ones back via UPS, but that they could not send the new lights until the old we're enroute. I asked her to mail the new lights ASAP because I had an extremely busy schedule. She said that she would check. However, the new lights were not sent until I received the UPS directions and mailed the old lights.
Because of my experience with the first set of lights I decided to have my mechanic install the second set in the event there was a manufacturing defect. The second set of lights were fine.
Few of points: (1) I asked to be reimbursed for the cost in installing and removing improperly manufactured lights, not the second set. Real Truck said the best they can do is give me a $30 credit. Told them that was not acceptable and I'd like to talk to management. I am still waiting for them to call me back. (2) Be careful about ordering any headlights because directions could be poorly written and you'll spend way to much time sorting it out. (3) Had I not had a professional install the first headlights I may not have found the defect - so if you install headlights on your own look carefully at both low beam and high beam settings. (4) Real Truck does not manufacture these headlights, their just a pass through, so they pass the responsibility for problems onto the manufacturer. For example, they need permission from the manufacturer, before you can ship the item back, etc. Bottom line: I would not order headlights from Real Truck unless you can confirm that the directions are accurate and designed for that headlight. Secondly, I would not order unless I confirmed that the manufacture does not have a history of manufacturing defects.
