Beam patterns explained
What is the difference between driving lights, spot lights, fog lights, and flood lights?
Often referred to as fog lights, driving lights have a beam that is able to travel a longer distance, but not as wide. Driving lights perform best when used to supplement your high-beams. Or they may be aimed lower and supplement your low-beams.
Spot / Off-Road Lights
Spot lights are strictly for off-road usage due to their powerful, tight beam. Using an array of spot lights will offer more coverage by aiming them at slightly different angles.
Fog lights are generally mounted low on the vehicle such as the bumper or bumper grille. The light pattern is very wide, with a flat horizontal cutoff. When properly aimed, fog lights are the perfect complement to your low-beams. This is by far the most popular beam pattern and are installed on many vehicles from the factory - though there's always room for improvement by upgrading your existing fog lights.
Flood lights have a beam pattern that may be similar in width to a fog light, but the beam does not have a horizontal cutoff. Therefore they are also for off-road use only. As with spot lights, a mounting location high on the vehicle is ideal.

I really like these lights. I used the install kit and was pleased with it. Best set of install instructions I have ever read for a product like this. The switch is a nice piece but I had to use a big toggle with safety cover so I would not accidentally turn the lights on with my knee. The choice of three lens sets is really good too. Will buy from KC again.
Great product and realtruck has best price
The lights work perfectly. I would have sent this in earlier but I'm using these lights as reverse lamps and couldn't get the transmission into reverse to test them.
BUT they arrived on time and work great!!!
easy to install used as backup lite
I purchased one of these lights to use as a backup light on my vehicle. Installation was easy, one wire to ground on the frame, one wire to connect to the backup bulb wire, and the wire was run behind my taillight assembly down to the light at the bottom of my frame below the bumper cover. Only had to drill one hole for the light itself, and since this was my first time installing a light like this one, I believe anyone could install one without any problems what-so-ever. Also, didn't realize when I purchased this light that KC has a warranty of 23 years on it. Great warranty and a great price.
Product was as advertised and shipping was fast. This light will keep you safe from the rear in the fog and back off tailgaters when needed.
I got this light as a replacement to one of a pair that was destroyed in a rear-end collision. These lights are bright, and just the ticket for higher visibility at night, especially when backing up to my trailer hitch. My only recommendation would be to make metal parts out of aluminum or stainless so they don't rust. I was more impressed with how helpful the folks at RealTruck were at helping to get a receipt to my insurance company for reimbursement. Thanks, RealTruck!
|I installed this light on the trailer hitches of my Jeep Cherokee and Toyota Sienna and hooked it up to my rear lights. It requires a 10 amp fuse on each of the circuits.
There is no doubt that my vehicles will be seen during the day, at night, in heavy fog and in an infamous Florida-Rainy-Season-Downpour.
It's agreat product!!!
Came fast. Was exactly right. Good price. A good experience!
