I thought the directions could use some improvements. They were not clear at all. Only because I had previously helped my son in law install his, did I know some about how to install them. Also I feel like they do not sit flat. They seem to tilt inward on the truck.

I accidentally ordered the ROCKER PANEL bars…installed one but realized an blemish/issue and returned them for the FRAME MOUNT nerd bars. Either way they were relatively easy to install on my 2015 Chevy Silverado 1500 double cab. Took about an hour for each one, that's average since the first one took longer being the first time. Called Real Truck for a questions/help with a funky part of the directions and they were great. Emailed me an updated version.
The hardest part on the frame mounted bars is by far the U bolt installation. WATCH THE VIDEO on RealTruck.com. The video makes it look SO easy (wasn't filmed on a Chevy) but it's not that easy in my opinion.
On the Chevy, if you were to drop the u-bolt, which is easy to do, it'd be lost forever because it would fall into a small enclosed area/box. Since I was nervous, I put about a 4 inch piece of duct tape on the last half inch or so of one side of the unbolt so that I could hold onto the duct tape, sort of like a string or tail, and then manipulated the unbolt into place. This worked GREAT. Maybe you could find an easier way. I then simply took off the duct tape and finished the installing of the unbolt (fastened the nuts). Other than that, the installation was pretty easy. The nerf bars look great. My only criticism of the bar is the seemingly flimsy on the section under the bed of the truck. It doesn't have a bracket under it. The last/third bracket is towards the rear of the cab of the truck. So, the last 18-24 inches of the nerf bar is unsupported and clearly gives, bends, flexes when you step on that bed-access portion of the nerf bar. It holds me OK and I weigh 190 lbs. but I step up rather gently because of the flex. If I weighed much more I'd be awfully nervous. The rest of the bar feels solid since there are 3 brackets supporting the rest of bar. The bars look really nice and the chrome adds enough more chrome to really make the truck look "finished." Oh, a few last details…Since I installed both frame mount and rocker panel mount on this truck, I can tell you that the most rear rocker panel mount bracket does not mount as far back as on the frame mount which makes the rocker panel mount bar a little more flimsy on that bed-access step since the bar has a longer span without a bracket supporting it. Also, the rocker panel mounted bar hangs a little lower (not much maybe half inch or 3/4 inch and a little further away (maybe an inch or 1.5 in) from the exterior of the truck. I found that I sort of HAD to use the step on the rocker panel mounted both to get in AND to get out of the truck. Sometimes I just want to swing my leg(s) out of the cab and get out without using the step but the rear of my calf would rub the bar when I did this. This didn't happen on the frame mounted bar which I like better. It's a little more snug up against the truck. I wouldn't have noticed this obviously had I not installed both the rocker panel and frame mount bars.

I bought the wheel-to-wheel 4" oval nerf bars to replace my damaged 3" round ones (no longer made). I bought these from Real Truck because of the lifetime warranty, the price, free shipping, and the positive reviews. I ordered the rocker panel mounted bars. My old ones were body bolt mounted. Pros & cons for each...not sure which one I prefer yet.
Big negatives: Mfr installation instructions are total CRAP! If you can't figure out how to install these without instructions, buy something else. FedEx dumped these on my porch...no signature required, no inspection allowed. That being said, Real Truck "stood tall", told me if I was unsatisfied they would send me a new set. Customer satisfaction matters to them but there are some things beyond their control. What I suggested to them for improvement was to write their own coherent instructions for every product they sell. I would shop here again.

there was a mix up with the order and I got the wrong set of bars. The customer service at real truck (Heather and Denise) are great at what they do at realtruck. We got the issue resolved in a timely matter and both Ladies went out of there way to help with the mixup. I wouldn't buy anything for my 2014 Silverado anywhere but real truck. they are the best. go to other sites and compare prices . they cant be beat. Tim
