|I ordered the Steelcraft 3" Bull Bar for my 2015 F-150 EcoBoost. I like the fact that this product was designed for the EcoBoost series of engines (they need good fresh air for cooling so be careful what you hang in front). The box arrived quickly and the product was packaged very safely. After reading the instructions twice I started the project. The first step is to remove the factory tow hooks. The instructions made no mention of what to do with the plastic covers on the tow hooks. As the only way I could see to get them off without cutting them was to remove the bumper I decided to cut them off with a knife. I didn't like doing that, but in al likely hood I'll never need them again. Once those plastic covers are off the factory tow hooks come off easily and then you install the Steelcraft brackets (leave them loose until you get everything aligned). They say you should have help when offering the bull bar to the truck but I just used a piece of wood to prop up one end while I bolted in the other and I had no trouble. Again, leave everything loose at first until you get it lined up the way you like it. Once I had it aligned how I liked it, I put anti-sieze on the bolts and tightened everything up. Then I applied some polish to the bull bar and it looks real bad ass which is what I wanted. The way I have it set up you can clearly see the front license plate, plus there are holes if you want to mount some extra lights. For $200 including shipping this was a real great deal, thanks RealTruck you guys are the bomb. The only possible problem I could see with this bull bar is if someone actually tried to use it to tow the vehicle. There is play in the front mounting bolts so I could see it moving up or down depending on the way the tow strap was pulling on it. Still, if this truck ever broke down and I had to get towed by a wrecker, most of them these days have other ways of attaching to the vehicle (wheel straps, etc.) so I don't think I'd even have to tow with this bar. It would have been nice if they had figured out a way to keep the factory tow hooks, but I can live with it. Anyway, if you are looking for a good looking SS bull bar for an ecoboost F150 I think you can't do better than this.|
