I purchased the Lund Hitch Hand bed extender mainly for carrying my kayak(13'5" long, about 70lbs as rigged). I chose this particular model because of the adjustability - I wanted to carry the kayak with the nose supported on my toolbox and the back supported by the bed extender(just above the tailgate), leaving the truck bed clear for hauling other items. I was able to set up the Hitch Hand this way, but with the original configuration I could not open the tailgate with the kayak loaded. So I made a simple extension about 18" long using heavy square tube and now I can open the tailgate.
Overall, I am very pleased with the Hitch Hand; very sturdy and easy to set up. I am a bit disappointed that it is made in China. There was a bit too muck slack/movement for me with the original setup, so I used a piece of stainless shimstock to tighten up the truck reciever mount and drilled and tapped(3/8" bolts) a couple of places on the Hitch Hand. This reduced the movement significantly.

Great rack. It is easy to set up and take down and is flexible. I love not having to lift my kayaks on to the roof anymore. It does however rattle a lot when empty.

My husband and I ordered the Lund truck bed extender and were very pleased with our experience. The product arrived promptly and had been accurately described on line. We are very pleased with the quality of this product. It is very well built and performs just as we needed. We have two kayaks and this allows us to haul them in the truck bed. We purchased the Lund hitch truck bed extender so we could transport our two 12" kayaks around in the back of our truck. As we have not had the chance to get out on the lakes yet this year. We have only loaded them a few times for practice, but loading and unloading is so easy and fast and they have the needed support from the Lund Hitch extender for the lengths that stick out the back of the truck. My husband is very pleased with the purchase, installed very easy, great quality, great price.

I WOULD HAVE TO SAY THE LU-601021 ( LUND HITCH HAND PICKUP TRUCK BED EXTENDER ) IS MORE THAN WORTH IT'S PRICE. I WORK AT A LUMBER YARD AND WE USE IT FOR EVERYTHING. TOP NOTCH.

I haven't been kayaking in several years because I had no easy way to transport it-this extender made it soooooo easy!!! It is easy to put together and very substantial. It was much sturdier than I anticipated. You have to buy the pin for the hitch. I got a locking easy slide version. The extender is so easy to use-I just take it off after unloading my kayak and lock inside my bed which has a lockable hard top. The group that I kayak with were all impressed and it seemed maybe a little bit jealous! I would highly recommend this!!

I recently found out about the extender and was excited to see how it would work with my 12.5 ft kayak. I didn't want to go thru the trouble of a trailer and its to awkward and slightly heavy to continue to load up on on top of my roof, so the extender was def. something I was interested in. I ordered and received it very fast and couldn't be happier. Out of all the other extenders I like how versitile Lund is. Its adjustable and even came with a safety flag! I loaded up two kayaks in the bed of my truck and didn't have any problems.
The only eh thing about it is, with one kayak in the middle, it tends to wooble a little with in the hitch other than that no other complaints. I am def. glad I purchased this product and would recommend it to anyone.

Being in the metal trades I am more critical than most. Price and quality are hard to beat. The hitch is sturdy and the pieces are heavily built where needed. For my purpose it is on target!
