HUNTING

Mackenzie Works

2018 Jeep Wrangler

Born and raised in rural Kentucky, Mackenzie Works is no stranger to the outdoors, as she is pursuing a career in the firearms and hunting industries! She attributes her family for fueling her passion for the outdoor space.

RT: What do you love about the outdoors?

MW: I love the tranquility and the solitude of it all. The fact that most of the areas I explore or hunt on my own aren’t touched and sort of “unknown” makes it peaceful. I feel closest to God when I’m in the woods and taking in the magnitude of his creation. Just being a part of watching the wildlife as well as the sunrises and sunsets is my favorite thing in the world. Being presented with the opportunity of tagging out is a blessing, but it’s not what it’s all about. I’m just happy to be a part of God’s creation and taking the time to appreciate it all.

RT: What vehicle do you drive?

MW: 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL Unlimited Sport 3.6L

RT: How does your vehicle help you out in the real?

MW: My vehicle allows me to scout, put out attractant/minerals/corn in my honey holes, drive into fields I’m hunting and of course get me from point A to point B when I am traveling anywhere and everywhere. It doesn’t hurt that it’s a lot of fun to drive!

RT: Can you talk a bit about being a woman in your outdoor space?

MW: Being a woman in the outdoor space is honestly pretty intimidating as much as it is rewarding. I worked within the firearms industry for over 6 years so I am familiar with the challenges that come with being in a male-dominated industry and having to prove my knowledge and capabilities. That being said, I always want to make sure I am presenting myself in a respectful and Godly manner. I want other women to be proud to look at me as a role model in the outdoor space as well as feel confident in their skill and abilities without feeling pressured to show their bodies for attention. The negative comments or messages from people are simply motivating me to always pursue self- improvement and success in order to prove them wrong.

RT: How important is representation?

MW: Representation is pretty important to me, so I always want to ensure I’m standing my ground on my values and that I am setting the correct example. How I present myself means that my actions are representing and setting the tone for how other women in the outdoors after me will be treated as well. Oftentimes women are overlooked and I want to ensure that we have a respectable place in the outdoor space as well.
