Measure Your Truck Bed for a Tonneau Cover

Does your truck have a track system?

The Pace Edwards JackRabbit tonneau cover is made out of heavy duty aluminum slats that are coated with Pace's ArmorTek finish. ArmorTek is a polymer that is bonded to the aluminum to form a weather resistant, durable layer of protection. The cover is equipped with an auto-latch feature that engages every 12", giving you the ability to haul items with the cover partially open. The cover can be locked at these 12" intervals using the twist lock.

To open the cover, simply twist the lock and the cover retracts to the front using the heavy duty continuous tension spring, and is stored inside a compact canister. The canister has an angled front bottom half section to take up the least amount of bed space. Pace designed a built-in, full width handle across the rear of the cover to make it easy to operate without the need to lower the tailgate. However, the convenient pull strap lets you easily close the cover from the rear of the bed with the tailgate down.

The Pace Edwards Jackrabbit is a low profile truck bed cover that will accentuate the sleek looks of a new truck. The optional Explorer Rails from Pace Edwards are made from extruded aluminum and will allow you to add a Pace Edwards Rack, Thule or Yakima rack for hauling bicycles, canoes, cargo baskets and more. Some models may require drilling to install the drain tubes.

      Order Notes

      • Explorer rails are recommended when you would like to mount a Pace Edwards overhead rack or crossbars
      • Standard rails are recommended when you don't plan on adding a Pace Edwards overhead rack

      Frequently Asked Questions

How does the JackRabbit open and close?
The aluminum panels fit inside the side rails and retract into the front canister. It can be latched every 12", completely opened or locked closed. The latch-n-lock system makes it easy to open or close and spring tensioners help the cover open.
      What does water resistant mean?
The cover is made so water will drain into the canister and out the bottom through drain tubes.
      Is the tonneau secure?
Yes, the cover locks with the latch n lock system. Simply turn the dial to open and it will automatically latch when closing, then lock it with the key provided. If you’re tailgate does not come with a lock, an optional tailgate lock is needed to secure the tailgate.
11% increase in fuel economy, really?
Yes, the low profile aerodynamic design will save on fuel costs.
We have a bed liner, will the cover work with that?
The side rails clamp to the cargo box rails. If you have an over the rail bed liner, installation can be more difficult. If you have an under the rail bed liner, you shouldn't have any trouble, but some may require limited modifications to the front corners of the bed liner. For most spray in bed liners, provided the spray is not overly thick, you shouldn't have any issues.
How do I maintain the tonneau?
Here are some tips to help ensure years of smooth operation. Open and close the cover regularly. Grease the wear strips each year or if they start to squeak. Make sure the cover works smoothly after initial installation, if not contact customer support right away. If the cover is hard to open or close, make sure the side to side clearance is at least 1/8". Make sure the drain tubes and bottom of the canister are cleaned out regularly and check them every 6 months. Wash the cover just like you wash your pickup, but do not use wax.
Will my friends be jealous if I buy a JackRabbit?
Probably, because owning this cover will grab attention, give your truck's cargo box more function and allow for hard tonneau security.

Once you get the rack installed correctly it's a beauty and works pretty well except it leaks around the tailgate and I can't figure out how to fix this. However, the installation instructions are terrible and it took me and a friend forever to get this thing installed. Then once it was on the bed and apparently working it kept opening on it's own while I was driving. I finally called the manufacturer and in a very condescending tone was told I hadn't installed it correctly because I didn't use the shims (?). Like I said the installation instructions were pretty vague. But once I went back to read them again I did see the shim instructions. Overall, I like the tonneau a lot, I just wish it had been easier to install. Finally, I ordered the Explorer rails to use with the Thule load bearing system which really makes the rack very versatile and a little better value. However, nowhere in the Real Truck literature did it say these rails were a custom solution. So, the delivery was much longer than I had planned for when I placed the order.

The construction of this Tonneau cover is flimsy. I installed it but immediately purchased a different cover for my truck which is now on my truck and this one is in the trash. This cover is not good.

Installed it three dsys ago and it fits

      and looks very nice.

The only issue is that the instructions are not very clear and you definitely two individuals to install it. I went online and viewed a video in order to figure out the installation process.

This the 2nd of these that I've ordered. one is on a 2003 GMC Sierra and the other is on a 2014 GMC Sierra. Both are great covers, secure too. Only issue with the older one is water in the bed from time to time. No problems with the new one.
